Intelius Took my money without giving me what I paid for Ripoff Internet
I was directed to Intelius because I needed a phone number by ADDRESS since the name of the person was not in any on-line (or Directory Assistance) phone book.
On their "people Search by Address" screen, it says: "Residents & Property Search Includes: Current & previous residents, phone #'s, home value, property details, sales history, area sex offender check, satellite & map images." I paid $19.90 ($14.95 and an upgrade for phone number confirmation) and got the PROPERTY report of that address showing the person I was looking for as the current owner, no phone number for that person BUT THE PHONE NUMBERS FOR THEIR NEIGHBORS!
When I called customer service for a refund they said that they never guaranteed I would get the owner's phone number and that their TOS specifically says no refunds.
Here is why they are a complete and utter scam/rip-off artists: (1) They never "forced" me to see their TOS or cliock an "I accept" button. (2) There is no disclaimer on the search screen. On the contrary, they led me to believe I WOULD get the owner's phone number. (3) On their sample report - which, I admit I viewed only after my disappointment - THERE IS NO FIELD FOR PHONE NUMBER OF CURRENT OWNER! Only for NEIGHBORS! In other words, it appears that they never even intend to give you what you want!
My theory is that if they refunded everyone who complained, they would not be able to stay in business. I hope someone goes after them in a class action...
