I am so grateful for this site. I am a struggling independent consultant, and was intrigued by an ad ran in my local paper by a company called International Profit Associates. They were looking for "Senior Business Analysts."
I sent in my resume, and lo and behold, before you could say "scat", I was set up for a telephone interview. Well, I have just finished the telephone interview, and guess what? They hired me right over the phone.
By this time, alarm bells were going off, but like I said, I am a struggling independent consultant. I barely make enough to survive, and the money they said I could make was really outlandish. This set off more alarm bells, but again, I'm not listening.
The final straw was when the guy asked me for my credit card number so that he could use it to pay for my plane ticket to Chicago for the "training class." Like a fool, I'm still not listening to the bells, so I gave it to him. What an idiot!
After I hung up the phone and things got quieter, the alarm bells finally became loud enough for me to hear. I found this site and, after reading the reports filed on this company, immediately called my credit card company and cancelled my card!
I then sent International Profit Associates a nice email saying thanks, but no thanks! And don't bother to contact me again. For some strange reason, I don't think I've heard the last of them.
