Everyone knows how difficult and stressful it is to plan a wedding. It is even more stressful when I am doing it in a short amount of time, and yet it can be EVEN more stressful when you run across companies like Petals & Papers, aka Invitation Kits Direct.

After choosing the beautiful invitations "offered" by this company and placing an order costing us close to $300.00, we received as usual an email confirmation regarding our order. Everything seemed to be legitimate. The website claims:

"Most orders can take 5 to 7 business days to process. This is in addition to the shipping times below. Please pay attention to the product pages that state that some products will take longer to ship due to the fact that they are individually handmade."

Our area of shipping is said to take 4 days (after the 5-7 day processing).

However, after waiting 12 days...not only has the company not yet processed our order (we only know this because the money has not been taken from our account), but we have also not heard a single word from them! We emailed and emailed and emailed to no prevail. No response. We called the phone number and it takes you to an automated response system which eventually takes you to an answering machine (because no one is really there). An answering machine might also be helpful...EXCEPT...the next thing you hear is "We're sorry, this voice-mail box is full, you cannot leave a message at this time." REALLY!!??

I started searching for the same invitations elsewhere. The only other place I found with the same thing is a company who sent me this email regarding the invitations...:

"""Thanks for your message. You have my sympathies. We know very well the company you refer to and that's why we stopped doing business with them.

OK, so here's the situation. The Sheer Naturals Rose Garden invitations were specific to that company. They are the only suppliers and if you can't get it from them you won't get it from anyone else because they are the only source."""

Not only is this a huge inconvenience for my wedding as we are so late trying to find invitations that will work, but we now have to put hold on our bank accounts to keep this company from charging us hundreds of dollars.

Another confirmation email was sent to this customer with a cancellation/out of stock notice highlighted in red and bolded explaining that this item was currently out of stock, the order cancelled, and her credit card would not be charged. With the exception of customers paying through paypal, we do not process payments for orders until the order has shipped out. This is a small business, and we are working on putting new programs in place to provide better customer service, as we know this area is lacking. While it is true that when a customer calls, they may have to leave a voicemail, we now have a new customer contact program to respond to customer questions, etc. more efficiently. This is a legitimate business. We have had thousands of happy customers throughout the years, however, unfortunately, currently our sales volume has exceeded our capacity to provide excellent customer service.
