Hello. My name is Kate. A few weeks ago I received a post card in the mail to contact IRL. Unknowingly of what they were about I called. I was entered into a sweepstakes for $25k. Fine. Well, then they said I am qualified for a $1k shopping spree if I sign up for a magazine subscription. I listen to the woman that was telling me about the information. She said it was for multiple websites for the shopping spree. I thought to myself that is great- why not do it? I wanted magazines anyway. Well, when I received the coupon in the mail I was limited to one website. I was extremely upset. I called IRL to say that this is false advertisement and I wanted my money back. Unfortunately, they said this is not refundable nor is is able to be cancelled. From my experience, a verbal contract is just like a written one. If something is said and it not done then the contract is void. When I explained this to the people on the phone they said no and made me listen to the recording. However, the recording only deals with the payment information. What about the rest of the conversation I had with the woman? Since they did not record the Full conversation they cannot help me. Now I have a balance of $917.24. I said that I would keep two magazine subscriptions and she said no because it is a package deal. Jamie Post said that she can reduce it to $599.76 but that is not what I want to do. I feel since they voided the contract I should not have to pay this. I even offered them 2 magazines and the first months money they can have. I did not receive the magazines yet and feel they are able to cancel this.

After repeated and incessant phone calls to the company, and they "reduced" my price to help me out (yeah right) I finally told my dad. He told me that we had this company called Pre-Paid Legal and he helped me call them. The lawyer wrote one e-mail and I got a letter from the beloved IRL of Georgia saying that my account was cancelled and I could accept any magazine I receive as a gift from the company. It's amazing that I called for 2 months and a lawyer wrote one letter and then they saw it my way. I asked my dad how much Pre-Paid Legal costs, and he said he got it as a work benefit and it was only $13.00 a month. You can get it for $17.00 a month I think. One of my mom's friend's daughter (make sense? haha) sells it. I can give you her number or something if you want. Anyway, I got out of this huge bill and I would like to help you, too. :)
