What are the grounds for a Lawsuit against the dealer? The bank took 9 days to attempt to complete the paperwork..Not unheard of and not a RipOff. Your husband lost his job and so the bank rejected you and notified the dealer. So per the contract that YOU signed you are required to return the car if they can't get financing..Again no RipOff here However, YOU refused to return it, instead hiring a lawyer. Then even though this dealer is a disgrace, you could have returned the car when they said, and been done with them. Yet you still wanted to have them get financing? Then with a co-signer with perfect credit, yet still your 1/2 income they couldn't get you approved. But again cosigners are usually used for the credit side, if your income didn't change it is going to be hard, especially now, to get a bank to finance. By the way why didn't you attempt to get financing on your own? If you did where is the RipOff report on every bank that declined you? If you have any lawsuits it appears it would be against your lawyers for malpractice, and what seem to be very bad advise. Other than that save your time and money from the attornies and move on.

You signed a contract and were approved for credit based on the ABILITY TO REPAY the loan because there was a source of income. The job was lost and the whole equation was changed because the ABILITY TO REPAY was put into immediate jeopardy. The attorney advised you to retutn the car for this very reason. You could now attempt to refi the deal with the co-signer.
