Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I have been mistreated and treated like crap for the last time at this emergency room. all I want is to be seen and treated for my pain which i broke my toe when I was moving my bed frame. Instead, their attitude and mistreatment make everything worse. By law, Emergency rooms cannot treat you like this or deny you treatment. There were these black people with kids but they got seen with no problems, it was all because I was "WHITE". They are doing the same thing black people don't want doing to them! I just feel awful and depressed from how I was treated. There is no need for them to be acting like this toward me!

I did give them a piece of my mind like how I did in the past. And if this is why they are harassing me and being ugly to me. Well too bad I am the patient and when you're feeling bad already and in pain and when you get treated like this. You just SNAP!  Nice people when pushed over the edge will get temporary insanity! People do get pushed to the limit when they have kept quiet about being mistreated. Their ANGER builds up inside and they are ready to snap by telling off the person who got them to that point!

EDUCATION: The Pain Scale Levels

#2Consumer Comment

Tue, May 19, 2020

How to describe your pain accurately? The chart below provides descriptions and some tangible examples of the various levels that define the 0-10 pain scale. Patients should use this pain scale to aid in describing their pain accurately to a medical professional. 0 Pain free 1 Very minor annoyance-occasional minor twinges 2 Minor annoyance-occasional 3 Annoying enough to be distracting 4 Can be ignored if you are really involved in your work, but still distracting, 5 Can’t be ignored for more than 30 minutes.

6 Can’t be ignored for any length of time, but you can still go to work and participate in social activities. 7 Make it difficult to concentrate, interferes with sleep, you can still function with effort 8 Physical activity severely limited. You can read and converse with effort. Nausea and dizziness may occur. 9 Unable to speak, crying out or moaning uncontrollable- pain makes you pass out 10 Unconscious. Pain makes you pass out. So if you had 10 out of 10 pain, what happened to you? Medical professionals triage patients...those in most medical need come first. If you stating you had a pain level of 10, it is likely your behavior/symptoms did not indicate 10/10 pain. In that case a professional may feel that either you are a drug seeker (very common in the ER setting) or you are inflating your pain score for some reason (attention, sympathy, anger).

Based on your report, how "By law, Emergency rooms cannot treat you like this or deny you treatment" ....If you are speaking about the actual law, it's called EMTLA and your case does not fit within that law. However, it appears you are on the spectrum and you need things clearly spelled out for you. EMTALA: The Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act Emergency Rooms Must Screen and Stabilize Regardless of Ability to Pay In 1986, the U.S. federal government passed the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA).

This act requires any hospital that accepts payments from Medicare to provide care to any patient who arrives in its emergency department for treatment, regardless of the patient's citizenship, legal status in the United States or ability to pay for the services. EMTALA applies to ambulance and hospital care. EMTALA was developed to combat "patient dumping," the practice of refusing to treat people who did not have the ability to pay for healthcare services. It guarantees those with insufficient means will not be turned away from emergency medical care.

Most US hospitals participate in Medicare so that in effect the law covers virtually all hospitals. EMTALA is contained within the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) and falls under the auspices of CMS, the Center for Medicare Services. Legal Duties of Hospitals Under the EMTALA Law: Medical Screening Exams: Anyone arriving at a hospital emergency department must receive medical screening examinations to determine whether they are in a medical emergency. The law also says these must be done regardless of the financial or insurance status of the patient, in order of priority based only on medical need.

EMTALA has legal definitions of "emergency medical condition" and of the term "stabilized." Further, the CMS says this requirement applies to any facility that provides emergency services, not just to designated emergency rooms. If the medical screening exam finds that there is no emergency medical condition, they are not required to provide further treatment. Stabilize or Transfer: If an emergency medical condition exists, the patient's condition must be treated to stabilize it or to make a transfer to an appropriate facility. The emergency room cannot simply send a patient home with a condition that is expected to deteriorate further.

The patient has to be informed of any transfers and give consent. A patient sent home in an unstable condition or sent to a hospital that doesn't have the facilities to treat their condition could have legal recourse under EMTALA. Hospitals are Required to Take Transfers for Specialized Services: This addresses the practice of reverse-dumping, where hospitals with specialized units, such as a burn unit, only accept patients with the ability to pay. Under EMTALA, they must take any appropriate transfer. However, the law gives them an escape clause. They must accept the transfer if they have the capacity. If they don't have any open beds or they are already on ambulance diversion, they don't have to take a transfer. However, if they tell a hospital requesting a transfer that they are full but the patient gets sent to them anyway (dumping) they must treat the patient when he arrives.

They can report the sending hospital for an EMTALA violation later. EMTALA Does Not Provide Free Care While hospitals are required to examine and treat patients under EMTALA, their services are not free. They may bill the patient and sue them for unpaid bills. They do not need to provide outpatient care after discharge, but they must refer them to clinics and programs that may provide them at a reduced cost or for free. Hospitals can't refuse to treat patients presenting under EMTALA who already owe them money.

Trumpcare and cruelness are already happening at Jack Houston. They make people who are in dire need of pain and doctors. Making people wait for hours who are in pain on a 10 scare is cruel and unusual pain and suffering.

That is what trump care if all about! But people voted for this madness and insaneness. Jack Houston really is practicing trump care.

My neighbors have bear false witness against me. It's not innocent until proven guilty in phenix city. Its "GUILTY" until proven innocent. Or GUILTY period~ Its because of them why I get treated like crap in phenix city! Because people believe anything they are told! The police don't want to hear my side of the story they are supposed to defuse the situation but they make it worse by not being transparent or fair to the neighbor being falsely accused!

Yes, it angers me how I was treated at this ER I was discriminated against and embarrassed for which I had to raise my voice. Other people have had to raise their voice to. while the ER doctor just sat around talking, and the doctor been black it would have been worse on the white people! Because she was very prejudiced against white people and didn't if come and see me.  But she still charged my insurance and she still got paid. This is "STEALING". Blacks are doing the same things that they complain about white people doing!

These ER RN can be such snotty and have a bad attitude toward you! I'll; let god AVENGE my enemies and who have treated me unfairly! He is the ultimate avenger then any courtroom judge or jury to give you justice here on earth! But these B*****D crooked corrupt police would still get their pension for nearly ruining my life and causing me to lose everything!

I DON'T BACK THE BLUE!

There is a special place in h*ll for liars and false accusers and people like in the Jack Houston memorial hospital who make people wait who are in pain.  The only frauds and liars are the ones are you rats on this site who harass posters of complaints and call them liars and frauds to protect these bad businesses. Like the RATS who work in the jack Houston memorial hospital! Which I'm turning them into the civil rights people for violating my civil and human rights and neglecting to see me.

And the ER doctor who is a THIEF and who is the real FRAUDSTER! But you rats on this site defend the real criminals, bad businesses and the real FRAUDSTERS! who take advantage of people. And they weren't that many people in the waiting room. While the ER doctor was sitting around talking to the nurses which are more important than getting rid of my pain!

I will be fighting him if he tries to charge my insurance. I will also call them and tell them not to pay him because he refused to see me. Well, the ER doctor has charged other patients nearly  $1,000 and he didn't even see them!

Hey, Chucksicle, you know we all love ya, man, right? You make trolling this site worth it. I once had a broken toe and endured hours of agony in an emergency room, so I don't wish that on anyone. What kind of crazy name is Jack Houston for a hospital anyway?

Man, some producer will make you a fortune some day putting a relaity show on the air starring you. Y'all really ought to pitch your life story to Netlix, Hulu or Amazon.

And I honestly wish you a quick recovery on that toe and no more trips to Jack Houston.
