The message on my private cell phone said "Edward Williams calling regarding a matter that could lead to your arrest and involving your attorney call me now 814-334-1010"  I returned the call to the phone number which they stated goes to an attorney's office.  I beg to differ, they were extremely unprofessional and couldn't tell me WHY they are attempting to "sue" me or why I was being "arrested."  Eventually he tells me that I took out a payday loan, and need to pay it immediately or I would be arrested.

I laughed, and asked for more information.  I asked what the name of the attorney was, eventually he would tell me "John McKenzie" and I followed with more questions regarding the attorney, which upset him greatly.  He said I needed an attorney, I would appear in court and there were documents necessary.  I asked what state he practiced in, and eventually he hung up on me.

I called back, my number had been blocked.

I tried calling again from another number, and got right through.  This time Jacob Brown picked up and began his abrasive conversation immediately.  His accent sounded similar to the first guy, middle eastern, and he was upset that I asked him if Jacob Brown was his real name.  He was so upset in fact he neglected to tell me what i owe them for, and kept going on and on about how he couldn't sound like "Jacob Brown."  At this point, I was finding it all to entertaining.  I asked for the name of the attorney, he replied "None of your business."

I then said, "You said I was going to be arrested, what's your payment information so I don't go to jail."  He told me I better "cool it" with my attitude or else I was going to jail.  I laughed, and said "You already said I was going to jail, what do I have to lose at this point."  He was quite angry, I think at this point he knew I called his scam bluff.  He started yelling at me, and I yelled back that I wasn't falling for his UNPROFESSIONAL attorney tactics, that attorneys don't CALL you to notify you to appear in court.  Again, he hung up.

After GOOGLING the phone number, and searching for "John McKenzie" as a practicing attorney in the state of Pennsyvania, he does not exist.  The google search lead to RIPOFFREPORT and various other sites stating they are a scam.

Here is what they DON'T know.  I have been a BILL collector for both attorneys and third party agencies.  I KNOW the routine, and I KNOW the system.  Nice try guys, but you DIDN'T get me.

How are they getting YOUR information?  When you apply for ONLINE payday loans.  You provide them with your account information, social security number and all your contact information.  RESEARCH BEFORE YOU PAY!  Their tactics are aggressive threats that scare you to pay before you do your research.  Lucky for me, I know how it works so I was able to call their bluff.
