We bought our engagement bands at Jareds Galleria off of 95th St in Overland Park.  We have consistently taken the ring in every 6 months for inspections/cleaning per the warranty instructions.  One of the diamonds has fallen out of my ring and my husband and I went up to Jareds to have the diamond replaced.  Once we got there, all of a sudden, they were not able to locate the records of our previous 6 month inspections (2 of them) in their system.  Now they are not willing to honor the warranty and want to charge us to replace the diamond at a ridiculous cost.  The only reason we went to Jareds was due to the local presence and this warranty offering.  this is a scam, no one ever mentioned about us, the consumer, having to do all the record keeping, they always said it is updated in their computer system.  Nor did they ever offer a receipt after their 6 month inspections of the ring.   After we left the store we contacted there corporate office.  The lady on the phone (who told us we were "just out of luck") said there was no manager she could transfer us to and if we wanted to contact anyone else we would have to write a letter, then abrubtly hung up on us.  Now it is the Holidays, my ring is ruined (looks bad w/o a diamond) and they won't help us.  Great customer service, until they have your money.  This is truely the worst experience I have ever been through with a retail establishment.

I have personal experience with JARED the Galleria of Jewelry and if you did indeed get your inspections done you WOULD and SHOULD have proof that you did get them done...Everytime I have had them done I have gotten proof of it...I live in the metro area aswell...And even if you didn't get proof it WOULD be in their system. I know from personal experience that if a diamond or gemstone were to fall out, that IF you got your inspections done you WOULD have gotten it replaced.

 

Good luck to you and I hope in the future you make sure you get PROOF of your inspections.

I'm not surprised about the poor quality service and the warranty scam. They're in serious financial straits nationwide. The current recession is killing jewelry companies. I recommend you get a suit filed in small claims court quickly. Jareds position is weak at best. They'll have to explain why they don't issue receipts for all services including inspections. I doubt any judge will buy the excuse that they can't find the records in the computer. Written receipts protect the customer and the business from false claims.

I'm sure if you run a local ad you can get a hold of former Jared employees who would be glad to testify on your behalf.
