I purchased a car from J.D. Byrider in May of 2000, a 1991 Chevy Beretta for over $10,000.

I had no credit, and needed a car, so I thought this would be a good way to build credit. Big mistake. A month after I got the car, it broke down and needed a new alternator, it was still under warranty so they fixed it no charge. I kept up with my payments every month and finally in December of 2000 I moved out of state.

I kept the car and continued making the payments, but began to struggle a bit. This was because the car was having problems and I had to spend over $600 to get it fixed. I was getting fed up with the car, it had a really bad oil leak and burned oil really bad. In August of 2001, I gave up on the car.

I called J.D. Byrider, which was in Iowa to come get the car, they could have it. I moved back to Iowa and received a letter a few weeks later stating that they were going to sell the car and whatever they got for it would be knocked off my balance, I would owe the rest. At the time I gave up the car to them I had paid almost $5,000 in payments, so I still owed another $5,000. And now a few months ago I received another letter from them stating that I owe them $5,000 and need to pay it now, or they will take action.

Yeah right, sounds to me like they either didn't even sell the car or are trying to rip me off. I haven't responded and don't intend to, unless they continue to send me letters, then I will hire a lawyer and sue them. Right now, I do know that they are being sued by at least 2 people who claim that J.D. Byrider are taking advantage of people with little or no credit and overcharging for their autos. I really hope those people win because J.D. Byrider deserves every lawsuit that comes at them.

I once had a car from JD Byrider, a rip off. And I heard that from many people.

When I first moved to Cheyenne I had a junky car that was ready to break down. I tried everywhere to get financing. But with no credit and bad credit JD Byrider was my last option. I didn't have a choice in the car that I wanted. They gave me 3 choices of vehicles (junky ones I might add). I picked out the best one out of their choices. The car was probably only worth $1000.00 on the street but they charged me $8,000.00 for the darn thing. The first day I had it the radiator hose came off and when I took it up there to them they told me this " We'll fix it for you this time for free but, you will have to pay for it next time" I was shocked! After a month the header went out on it. They charged me $275.00. Well, I couldn't make my payment with that charge. Then they came and repo my car. Well, at the time I was fileing bankruptsy so I put their car on the bankruptsy. JD Byrider is a rip off. And I heard that from many people.
