I bought a car from jd byryder 18 months ago i have had to have 2 major repairs and now the timing chain has broken on my 1997 plymouth breeze, and taken the motor out also. i want to return the car to their lot but if i do what are my rights. and what will happen can they garnish my pay check?

Come on, why would any used car company be responsible for something that happened a year and a half after the fact, especially since this is a maintenance problem? Like changing your oil regularly!! Timing belts should be inspected/replaced every 60K or so miles. It's your responsiblity, not the dealer's. I find it hard to believe that J.D.B. would finance the repair without interest... better bring a magnifying glass and a lawyer before signing any papers!!

AFTER HAVING WRITTEN RIP-OFF REPORT,I DECIDED TO CALL JD BYRYDER AND SEE JUST WHAT MY OPTIONS WERE (TO MAKE SURE MY PAY WASN'T GARNISHED)... WELL TO MY SURPRISE HERE IN BLOOMINGTON ILLINOIS, THEY HAVE STARTED A PROGRAM WHERE THEY HAVE YOUR CAR FIXED BY THEIR MECHANIC AND ADD THE BILL ON TO YOUR BALANCE BUT IN A SEPERATE CONTRACT THAT DOES NOT INCLUDE ANY FINANCE CHARGES I WAS SHOCKED TO SAY THE LEAST, EVEN THOUGH I HAVE NEVER BEEN LATE NOR HAVE I MISSED ANY PAYMENTS I STILL EXPECTED SOME TYPE OF DISAPPOINTMENT FROM THEM (JD BYRYDER-CNAC) DIDN'T GET ONE THING TO COMPLAIN ABOUT GO FIGURE? WISH THINGS TURNED OUT THIS WELL FOR EVERY JD BYRYDER-CNAC CUSTOMER...SANDY

Sadly, you're dealing witha franchise that is well versed in the (borderline) legal methods that may be used to their benefit and your detriment.

It is my understanding that if a note still exists on the vehicle and it's "turned in" or repossed, they may dispose of it, usually through an auction, and hold you responsible for the difference between 'payoff' and whatever their auction sale brings. . In many cases the owner is left with a payment book and no car. The "lot lizzard" gets the s**t....errr.....short end on the stick. . Borderline unethical deeds and training are part and parcel to buying an EXPENSIVE "J.D. Byrider" franchise. There has to be something special about their franchise and operating methods to command $50K for the franchise fee (can you spell b-l-u-e- s-k-y.?)Thatin addition to the required "$643.7K-4.2M total investment". . J.D. Byrider does perform a service to the used car sales market. Where else would many of the "run hard and put away wet; used UP" cars go if it weren't for the likes of J.D. Byrider.
