I posted an item on Craigslist to sell and was contacted several times by Jen Tony or an alias of Jen Tony, but all with the same email address.
[email protected]. He/she wanted to mail me a check or money order then have me send the item I was selling.
Well, I reread the 'Beware of Scams' page on Craigslist and it was exactly what I should avoid. Craigslist stated that scammers send you some phony check that initially clears then bounces weeks after you've sent the item and you are left with nothing.
So, I typed in their email address and up pops a report posted from another person Jen Tony attempted this with. I must mention that just like the other poster, Jen Tony said she was deaf, had a TTY phone and was adamant about getting the deal done pronto.
So, please be cautious when listing on Craigslist. I guess that's why they say deal in person and in cash only. Legitimate buyers don't have to hide behind their computers. Don't trust whoever or whatever Jen Tony is.
