Raymond, Wrong, most mechanics have the wrong idea of what automotive service is. If the mechanic finds a problem and doesn't report it, how does the victim/customer know whether or not it was preexisting? Most reputable shops will provide a complimentary inspection noting the problem which exist and let them know about them immediately and then note them on the receipt. HINT: this also limits liability. ED Magedson [email protected]

Customers today have a wrong opinion about what a tuneup is. Years ago cars were much more basic and needed only plugs wires air filter pcv valves distributor cap points carburator adjustments and set the timing. All the adjustments where made by the mechanic. Today the mechanic must diagnoise the problems as they are noted.
Just because plugs & wires etc. have been serviced does not mean there will not be problems in the electronics or computor which does all the adjustments for air fuel ratios, spark advance, sensor problems etc. By this ladies explaination it sounds like there is a specific problem with her car.
I think it is unfair for her to bad mouth companys without first either finding out what is wrong with her car or expressing what they did wrong. SUPRISE it just might mean poor maintenance has just caught up to her.
