Jim Walter Homes RIP-OFF INCOMPETENT DISHONEST TAMPA FLORIDA
I too was taken advantage of from Jim Walter Homes.I was told so many things before i signed on the dotted line that now well over a year later discovered aren't true.I didn't have the greatest credit and they were willing to work with me so I thought how great this was a dream come true. A home that was made just for my family, were we could take a basic floor plan and have everything we wanted. Well our nightmare started around Aug of 2000, when we signed the papers for our new home,we were told that if we would supply a trash dumpster that when they would put there trash in it as they went along if not that they would pile up in a pile my husband and i agreed that we would.
When finishing the paper work the saleman and all office staff said that we could have what chanage things as long as they hadn't started or put money into this, such as changing the garden tub for one w/ jets.That wasn't true either. Well our home didn't even go under construction till Jan.2001. They thought that they had completed my foundation in feb but when the county came out it didn't pass code due to a large crack in the foundation. Well they called me and my husband into the office and said that they would need more block and that they would have to increase my loan and would have to resign,which we did only to hopefully speed things up.
and to late to go back now. during our process we had several different construction managers and they all lied and still with all the problems still lying. The dumpster that I spoke about was full but not of trash but of block from the foundation where they had to tear the entire thing down and redo. The bill was over $1,000.00. So when the house was finaly done to there standards anyway we went to go through the walk through and there was trash everywhere coke cans , beer cans and yes I mean beer cans and Mcdonalds bags, I pointed all this out and alot of other problem with actual house and naturally a different construction manager says we don't pick up trash,with the construction manager and with his regional manager there list all things wrong and to be fixed said that they would take care of this trash bill.
well this was 3mths ago and NOTHING has been done the dumpster still sits on my land by they won't move it w/out payment ,talk about mosquitos and bugs, I have called and nothing gets done i still can't use the water hose sprayer in the kitchen because of water pressure, can't make bubbles in kitchen sink to do dishes because pressure so bad.I have a good 3-5 inch crack up my wall in the kitchen and my list goes on and on. I called agian just the other day and now a new Construction Manager.I encourage anyone looking a home of there own to go anywhere but with Jim Walter. I too didn't tender out but was informed that the manager could sign for me. i too was told that we didn't have homeowners insurance and we did.There are other options and remember what your mother said, If it sounds to good to be true it probally is.....
