Please advise people not to have a house built by Jim Walter Homes (also called Mid State Homes). Our house is nearly six years old and the foundation has major problems, the wood was rotten and full of termites, the doors had locks on the outside, but not on the inside, there are no doors to the laundry room, walls have huge cracks, the siding is crumbling, the floors are waving, walls are floors are not square, the windows leak air, the doors won't close.

The plumbing is awful, the vent a hood never worked, the air conditioning doesn't work in one room. These were all apparent from the beginning and we were told it was our problem. The warranty is worthless. Mr. Pilgrim from the Dallas office said that it was our poor soil that caused these problems. They also said I was making payments on time and was always saying they would reposses the house. They really wanted to take this house back, and I wondered why, until I realized it was because I have some expensive land as collateral.

A man named Lundquist would come to our home and talk very rudely to us about our payments. Our payments were made on time. They also took out insurance on us, when we had much better insurance already purchased. After them doing this for two years in a row, I went to the Texas Insurance Board. I would like to sue this dirty rotten company whose every answer has been, "that is your problem, not ours." I have been researching to see what my chances are, but it looks like they can sell these shanties and there is not a thing we can do about it.

I think the only way we can stop companies like this is by websites like this, where we can alert potential customers to beware.

LET'S MAKE A STAND:

#2Consumer Suggestion

My husband and I are also a victim of Jim Walters Homes. I want to offer my help to people that have been hurt by this company. I for one am sick of this company. I am wanting people that have been done wrong by this company to stand up and make a change. Even if it takes us going to Washington !!! I am putting together a group where we all can take our complaints to the highest authority. If we keep letting this company get by with this we are just a guilty. I for one am ready to take this company on. I need other's to come forward that is not scared and willing to fight this company. We are better as a group than doing this ourselves. We need to all go to one attorney present our case and take these peolpe on. If you would like to contact me and get together and do something about this company please feel free to call us and get together for a group meeting and make some plans to stop them. I do know what you all are going through and I myself have been through alot with this company and I am tired of the abuse and control of this company. We have also been told if we keep on making complaints they will foreclose on our house., and we too put up 2.38 acres for this house and all they want is our home and land. They told us also if we backed out of letting them build they would take the land from us. They forced tendered on us and lost paper work that we signed to change the plans. We are paying for a three bedroom and we have a two bedroom that they promised to take off the one bedroom and did not. We are paying for pretreatment of the home and we did not get that either we have so many problems we can not count them all. With all this said, if you are tired of this company, then let's make a stand now before it is too late.
