We purchased a home 2 years ago from Jim Walter Homes in Jackson, Tn. Everything went well up until time to build. They did not have a construction manager located in Tn. One was called from Jonesboro Arkansas.

Problems began immediately after. We lied to about everything by this little short guy with glasses. He likes to talk about going to church and stuff to convince you he's a good guy. He will chuckle at you when you complain and brush it under the rug. My house had so many problems there are to many to list. I will try. A shoddy crew was brought in first. They would work a few days and take off weeks.

The entire time they were drawing money from the job. They finally didn't come back at all and my house sat with lumber uncovered and being rained on for a couple months. I saw the construction manager once before the builders were so called finished. He never came by to check the work of anyone even when complaints were made.

A second crew was called from Mississippi. 2 guys who told me they were getting the shaft and not happy about finishing the home. To make a long story short they butchered this house while Jim Walter Homes was being advised the entire time. Multiple complaints were made to Tampa, Fl. office.

I was never contacted about any of the problems by Jim Walter Homes during construction. They took as much as 6 months time to repair anything by hiding behind the warranty agreement which basically says they have all the in the world to sweat you out and burn up your warranty agreement.

Walls are crooked and out of square throughout the entire house. Roof was the last thing to go on the house. The floors were all bucking. The framing was mildewed, molded, and warped. Fascia did not meet at the corners. Drywall slapped up and never finished properly. Windows are crooked. Failed electrical inspection. Nails sticking out on backside porch rails. Flashing was not installed behind porch. Handrails were wobbly and unstable. Porch decking had ripped pieces of wood installed. All doors were out of square and only secured with a couple of nails. Drywall mud was on everything. No attic access. Plumbing was running up hill. Air conditioner did not work. Porch support sinking. Large gaps everywhere. To see photo's of all this vist the gallery at http://www.myjimwalterhome.com

Bottom line is no one at Jim Walter Homes cares whether you get a nice home or not. Their builders are cheap unskilled laborers. They have NO quality control. I have even had them tell me it was my fault the house had all these problems. I was told looking at a model home was like looking at a Big Mac commercial, what you isn't necessarily what you get. They will hide behind the documents you sign which when put together as a whole allows them to get away with this. You have been warned!
