Complaint Review: Jody Humphrey - Atlanta Georgia

I had the GREAT MISFORTUNE of running into Jody Humphrey one year ago, after not seeing him for years. Our previous acquaintance centered around school and family.  I did not know him well, but thought his wife and children were lovely and also thought him to be a successful business man.

That chance meeting is one of the most unfortunate things that has ever happened to me and I realize in hindsight that he just saw me that day as a "Mark", to target in his very sick and dishonorable practice of scamming money from trusting and kind individuals.

His ploy is to present himself as a successful business person, who as a sideline is soley funding the development and advancement of his son, Jordan Humphrey's, career as a singing artist.  He will drop all kinds of names and big promises, while telling you he has received big money offers to partner with him on this, but in trying to maintain creative control of his son's career, is looking to partner with someone smaller.

When I declined his "investment" request, telling him I was not in a position to invest that type of money long term, he almost "bullied me" into a "short term 6 week loan".  He assured me that he had several hundred thousand dollars coming in from a business commission within that timeframe, and that those funds would pay me back.  I was actually moved by the passion and committment of a father trying to help his son achieve his dreams.  For my "short term loan", he promised to try and make some introductions in the music industry, for one of my children, regarding career pursuits and to make me a partner in the financial success and forthcoming deals supposedly coming through for his son.

After the intial short term loan, came a second request 2 weeks later for another loan of equal value, to just "finish up some original demos and marketing", that would be the last of what was needed to parlay his son into the big time.  In total I invested over $20,000 with him, and before I knew what a con man he was, at his request, introduced him to a friend, who trusting my judgement, gave him an even larger sum of money.

Long story short he failed every deadline to pay the money back, gave me 2 bounced checks from an account where money was never deposited and in fact was in the red, (told by the bank), cashed both of my checks at the counters, (never depositing them in an account), told heinous untruths about me and my family to deflect from the real truth that would expose his scam.  I have since met 4 other women he has done this to as well. All of us were sold the same bill of goods.  We have all had to expend further energy, time and legal expenses to retain lawyers and file law suits.

What is so ironic is that Jody Humphrey speaks weekly, trying to recruit people for his Multi-Level-Marketing financial services company, HGI Crusade, Hegemon Group International, where he expouses the virtues of not getting into debt, while listing all of his financial success accolades.  I cannot believe that he has the audacity to go around town spewing lies and picking up checks, (mostly from single women), never intending to pay them back, and think that this will not catch up to him, particularly because he has himself out there as a pretty visible individual in the financial services arena.

Beware that his tactics are to fully discredit anyone that speaks against him.  There are other Rip Off  Reports out there on him and he passes them off as "disgruntled ex-employees".  Let me concur that the claims made in the other Rip Off Reports are EXACTLY what happned to me and very well stated.

Jody Humphrey is a dishonorable man with no moral conscious, integrity or concern for who he hurts.  It is a shame that his practices will forever put a stain on his son's career, (if he ever makes it).  Jordan Humphrey himself told me he had no idea that his Dad was using his name to procur money or to promise percentages of his career to these so-called "partners".  

My wish is that Jody Humphrey will be exposed for the despicable con-man that he is.
