If you rent from Jonica Stingl at Camp Bonita located on Big Bend Road in Bonita Springs, Florida; prepare to be disappointed. Jonica Stingl is a classic absentee slumlord who believes that maintenance is just a waste of money. I have endured countless floods in the kitchen when ever it rained. Floods in the bathroom when ever it rained. An infestation of millipedes because of all the damp and rotting wood in the structure. There is black mold in the walls and the kitchen cabinets. Clothes hanging in the closet have been ruined by mold and mildew. Two stove top burners have yet to be repaired. I was forced to furnish my own refrigerator because Jonica Stingl refused to comply with the law and furnish one. I complained about the boat dock being unsafe because of loose and rotting deck boards, especially dangerous since some tenants have small children wondering around the property. This too was totally ignored until Code Enforcement was called in. The porch roof leaks. You have to park your car in the dirt despite the fact that parking spaces are supposed to be paved. There are broken windows, broken doors, there is trash strewn throughout the entire property which is horribly overgrown. Instead of Camp Bonita, this place should be known as Swamp Bonita. In spite of Jonica Stingl having her handyman living on the property as one of her tenants, she hasn't even had him do so much as even look at the problems I have complained about. I finally decided to issue a Notice From Tenant To Landlord Of Intent To Withhold Rent if the terrible conditions here were not fixed. Slumlord Stingl's response to this notice was simply to terminate my lease rather than to do what any reasonable and responsible landlord would do; fix the problems. I am not the first tenant she has done this to, I will not be the last. The good people at Code Enforcement were kind enough to furnish me with a complete file of all the complaints regarding this property since Jonica Stingl purchased Camp Bonita over ten years ago. It is a thick file. It would be easy to prove that Jonica Stingl is not in compliance with the lease, or the laws of th state of Florida. It would not be hard to prove that the attempted termination of my lease was retalitory conduct, which is unlawful. Instead I have chosen to leave this awful place simply because it isn't worth fighting for. Even if, by some miracle, all of the problems here were solved; I would still have a lying sociopathic slumlord to deal with. Any landlord who has absolutely no regard for the health and safety of their tenants needs to be avoided.
