Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I have never taken the time to post a review on a site but feel I am obligated to warn brides to steer clear of this HIGHLY UN-ETHICAL COMPANY.We purchased a dress from Jon's for my daughter and were told that even though they measured my daughter a perfect 4,that we needed to order a size 6 dress! I told the sales person that I did not feel we needed to go with a dress that large just because there was a 1/2 inch difference in one small area of the dress. I was told that if we did not follow there advisement they would not stand behind the dress and we would need to pre pay in full for the dress.I also argued that I did not see how they could bring the dress back to a 4 without major work because of all of the lines in the dress . I had the feeling this was a ploy so that they could get more money from you on alterations.I finally gave in and trusted them and ordered the size 6. We were then told that the dress had to be "special ordered" from Europe and we had to pay additional fees. We did that and it took several months before the dress came in. We then went back to Jons for alterations, she did not take the dress back to a 4,just took in 1/2 inch on the top, this cost us approx. $200.00. We explained that this was not the way the dress was suppose to fit and the seamstress started to raise her voice and aggressively pulled on the dress with my daughter in it. So un-professional, we felt like we were dealing with a thug from the streets . She said she could not fix the dress because the lines would be off(exactly what I said in the beginning) when I told her that it needed to be back to the dress that we originally tried on she replied" I don't care what you want me to do you just gonna pay me more money!"I called Jon and he told me that it was just the "OPINION " of the seamstress that she could not fix the dress ??? He asked that I come back again and he would be there for the fitting, we did go back and Jon was not there and the seamstress was even ruder and in front of store employees and customers began yelling and saying nothing more could be done to the dress.

I again called Jon and got his wife Robin, I could tell immediately that all she cared about was that they had my money and now I should just go away. When I begged her to please just help me fix the situation that I was not asking for anything free, I just needed to see if there was a floor model of another dress or a rental since we were now just days away from the wedding and I could not afford to waste any more time or money on this dress. I told her I could not put my daughter through anymore stress since the last 2 times we left there she left in tears.Robin was so cold and said" why didn't you just get the 4 in the 1st place?" I told her because I followed their advisement so that they would stand behind the dress as promised and that I trusted them. Her reply was"I guess you should have trusted your instincts then" I was desperately trying to reason with this woman and told her at this point I was just trying to resolve the situation reasonably and was not interested in pointing fingers. I begged her to help me and she cut me off and snapped "Are you done with me?" at that point I said yes I was and hung up.

I have NEVER in my life dealt with such an extreme level of un-professionalism. It is so apparent this company are scammers and only care about telling you anything to get your money. We ended up having to buy a brand new dress 4 days before the wedding. We went to Axxxx Axxxx(((REDACTED))) in Tampa and they were night and day from Jon's! INCREDIBLE STAFF!!!! They called several times after we left to see if we were happy and how the wedding went. PLEASE spare yourself any stress and heartache, Do not allow yourself to become another victim of Jon's Bridal SCAMS!!!!!

The sizes of the dress in question should have been size 4 and 6 rather than 6 and 8 as erroneously stated above; ie the sample was a stretched out size 4 and it was recommended that she order a size 6 based on the manufacturer's size chart.

We have been in the bridal business since 1994 and this is the first time a complaint has ever been posted against us at Ripoff Reports. We have been voted the Best Bridal Store in Tampa by members at theknot.com for 07, 08, 09. Our reputation for customer service is impeccable and our sign-in book shows that 75% of our customers come from satisfied customer referrals. Unfortunately no business is capable of satisfying 100% of their customers but Jon's Bridal has thrived competing against the big national chains by offering superior products and customer service for all these years. With respect to the Brenda complaint the facts are as follows: 1. The person filing the complaint is the bride's MOTHER. We have never had a complaint from the actual bride. 2. The bride/customer ALEX tried on a damaged size 6 sample that was clearly marked damaged/as is. This sample had been damaged by a previous customer who was too large for the size and had "forced" it on causing the sample size 6 dress to overstretch to the point of opening a seam. 3. Alex wanted to order a new dress from this sample and initially indicated that our sample fit her and she wanted us to order her a size 6. We explained to her that the sample was stretched out and that the manufacturer's size chart showed that her bust size required a size 8. She was offered the opportunity to order the smaller size 6 but we advised against this. We DID advise her that these dresses are NOT custom made but instead are cut to the measurements on the manufacturer's size charts and that some alterations would be required. Alex was also advised that the seamstress on our premises is an independent contractor who only "rents" space with us and that the customer, regardless of our advise assumes full responsibility for the size ordered. Alex was advised of this orally and it is clearly printed on her receipt. There is also a large sign behind the counter that states that the seamstress is "independent" and that customers are free to use any seamstress they desire. 4. Months later when the wedding gown arrived Alex came into the store, tried on the new dress, paid for it and left with her dress. She did NOT voice any complaints at that time. Dress was ordered 9/13/08 and arrived in our store 12/8/08. Customer tried and and paid the balance of the dress off on 1/02/09. Our contract that this customer signed clearly states that all sales are final; that there are no returns or exchanges as is the standard in the entire Bridal Industry. 5. Approximately three months later in March of 09 the customers MOTHER, Brenda called to complain that the dress was too large. She stated she should have ordered the smaller size. She was reminded that she WAS given the opportunity to order any size she wanted and she DID acknowledge this. 6. As previously stated the BRIDE Alex, herself has NEVER voiced a complaint to us. The complaint to us and the complaint filed here was made by the bride's MOTHER, Brenda. In our industry we do see many overbearing, domineering, neurotic mothers who are trying to recapture their youth through their daughters' wedding. I'm not saying that this was the situation here but it does appear this way to us.
