Complaint Review: Journey Pass - Maitland Florida

The company is currently offering a really poor incentive for signing up for their "discount travel" services.

They offer, in large type on the front page, the following:

"GET A TARGET GIFT CARD VOUCHER JUST FOR SIGNING UP"

 along with a picture of a $100 Target gift card.

But in their Terms and Conditions, they substantially change their advertised offer, as follows:

  Once you have signed up for $4.95 introductory offer,

  and kept your account open for 14 days, incurring a $99 annual (apparently nonrefundable) fee,

Then, you can start collecting your incentive reward as follows:

  Starting within 60 days of the start of your Trial Membership, you must send in receipts from one Target store showing purchases (not counting taxes) of $100.  The purchases must all be made with the same credit card, and must be dated within a one month period, not more than a month before you submit the receipts.  Send the receipts with a "redemption coupon", apparently something they should send you when you enroll.  Oh, and there are restrictions about which products you can buy that qualify for this offer; for example, no food, no flowers, no prescriptions, etc.  Send original receipts; no copies.

  If you do the receipt submission correctly, (and the company satisfactorily receives the receipts you submit), then the company's representative will send back one gift card for Target in the amount of $10.

To receive additional monthly gift cards, simply perform the following:

  Each month, purchase $100 worth of products from Target, the same Target, using the same credit card you used the first time.

  Mail in the $100 product-purchase receipts as above.

  Don't skip any monthly product receipt submissions, and hope that none of them get lost in the mail or mishandled by the company's representative, or the gap in receipt submissions will end your participation in the incentive program.

To summarize, you must pay the company $103.95 for the first year, plus buy $1,000 of Target products and successfully submit the receipts over ten months, in order to receive ten $10 Target gift cards.

Below, I am pasting in their Terms and Conditions information, circa March 6, 2011.

Offer Terms and Conditions

1. You have elected to apply and enroll in the Journey Pass Membership program.

2. The term of your contract is one (1) year from the date of enrollment certification.

3. At enrollment certification, you

will be charged $4.95 to initiate your trial period. Your annual

membership payment in the amount of $99.00 will be billed 14 days from

your enrollment certification. These charges will be billed to the form

of payment that you provided us today.

4. This agreement will renew at the

end of each one (1) year period unless Journey Pass elects not to renew

your Membership or you notify us of your intent not to renew pursuant to

these terms prior to the end of the current year.

5. You will have fourteen (14)

calendar days from the date of your enrollment certification to evaluate

and test the program prior to your initial membership charge. If at any

point in time you choose to cancel you must call our Member Services

Department at 1-866-581-4705 and you will be given a cancellation

confirmation number. You agree that your membership will not be canceled

until you receive such number. Upon cancellation, Journey Pass will

discontinue future billing.

6. If you do not cancel during the

first fourteen (14) calendar days, we will assume you have elected to

continue in the Journey Pass Membership program. Your membership will

then automatically renew each year at that year's term commitment rate

until you notify Journey Pass at least thirty (30) days prior to the

expiration of your current term.

7. You also agree to be bound by

Journey Pass's Membership Terms and Conditions, which may be modified

from time to time at Journey Pass's sole discretion. These Terms and

Conditions may be accessed anytime at

8. Gift Card Voucher Offer Terms and

Conditions - Collect $100.00 in original store receipts (excluding taxes

and surcharges) during a single calendar month each month from the

retailer specified in your offer for that month, and we will send you a

$10.00 gift card each month. Just follow the terms and conditions

outlined below. All receipts submitted must be from the retailer

specified in your offer, from the same location, using the same

credit/debit card within the same calendar month. You must submit these

receipts and they must be received by the last calendar day of the

following month. In the event the last day of the following month falls

on a Saturday, Sunday, or Holiday it will be on the next business day.

For example all receipts from March 31st 2011 must be received by us by

April 30th 2011. Submit these original receipts with the redemption

coupon for that month, and we will send you a $10.00 gift card for the

retailer specified in your offer. This step will be repeated each month

until the total amount of the benefit has been exhausted. The redemption

coupon and the receipts must be sent to Promotion Redemption, GTI

Memberships, P.O. Box 940639 Maitland, FL 32794. Only one redemption

coupon may be redeemed per calendar month, with no more than 10

redemption coupons redeemable in a calendar year, and no more than 10

redemption coupons redeemed successively. Your first redemption must

take place and be received by us within sixty (60) calendar days of the

beginning of your trial membership or the entire value of the Gift Card

Voucher and any associated Gift Cards will be forfeited. All additional

redemptions must occur and be received by us in successive calendar

months. In the event that you do not submit a redemption request for any

successive month, then all remaining month(s) gift card(s) will be

forfeited. The redemption coupon must be printed and filled out

completely and legibly. Incomplete or illegible redemption forms will

not be processed and will result in the termination of the promotional

period and you will forfeit your ability to redeem any remaining and all

future redemptions. All receipts during the entire redemption period

must be from that same retail store, from the same location, using the

same credit/debit card. Original store receipts must accompany the

original redemption coupon. Copies, duplicates or altered receipts

and/or rebate coupons will not be processed. Receipts will become the

property of GTI memberships and will not be returned. Receipts for

grocery items, including but not limited to food items, flowers,

alcoholic beverages, firearms and/or medications are not applicable to

this offer. Gift Cards/Certificates, Money Orders, Prepaid cards, store

value cards, and reloadable cards are also specifically excluded from

this offer. The total value of any all gift cards claimed may not

exceed the total paid for the trial and membership fee. In the event the

total amount of gift cards claimed is greater than the total amount

paid for the trial and membership fee, the maximum amount that will be

sent out will be the total amount paid for the trial and membership fee.

Gift Card Voucher will be mailed to the address on record upon receipt

of valid, verifiable purchase information as referenced above. This

offer is intended as a loyalty promotion and is only valid for

memberships that are active and in good standing. Please allow 4-6

weeks for the processing and delivery of your rebate gift card.

Processing time may vary during periods of unusually high volume of

redemption requests. GTI Memberships is not responsible for lost,

misdirected or stolen redemption coupons, receipts and/or gift cards,

which will not be replaced. Only one rebate gift card offer per

household per program. This offer is void where prohibited by law. Any

tax whether income or otherwise are your responsibility. Offer has no

cash value, cannot be redeemed for cash or other non specified gift card

/ certificate. GTI Memberships reserves the right to substitute this

offer with another incentive of equal or greater value in its sole

discretion at any time including but not limited to the issuance of a

rebate check. All of the above terms and conditions must be wholly

observed or the rebate gift card offer is invalid.
