Junk Removal Services Nate's Hauling Did Not Honor Pre-paid Commitment Santa Rosa, California

Was quoted a $99.00 fee for 2 hauling services: 1) pick-up and delivery of a gas stove purchased from an individual via Craigs List and 2) removal of old electric stove. Part 1 was quoted at $65.
Since completion of gas line installation at my residence was to be completed sometime during the week of 7.23.11 to 7.30.11, Nate agreed to remove my old electric stove upon notification during this week-long period.
Pick-up and delivery of purchased stove successfully completed on 7.23.11. I paid the two men who performed the move $99.00 in cash and wrote a receipt, which one of them signed, and which confirmed payment, further stating that pick-up of my old electric stove was included in payment and would be performed upon notification during the aforementioned week.
Gas line and installation of gas stove was completed the following day, 7.24.11, and I spoke with Nate upon completion, a Sunday. He promised pick-up on Monday, 7.25.11.
Pick-up did not occur on 7.25.11, and I called him. He offered an excuse of having forgotten, promised pick-up on the next day but asked for my address. This question concerned me, since all of this information had been initially given, but I repeated the information.
No pick-up occurred on Tuesday, 7.26.11, and I called him once again. He offered the excuse of having no room in his truck and once again promised pick-up on Wednesday or Thursday, 7.27.11 or 7.28.11. He also jokingly said maybe he should send my money back, which actually gave me some confidence that he was not a scammer.
When no pick-up occurred either on Wednesday or Thursday, I again spoke with him, and this time he offered no excuse but again said that maybe he should send my money back.
In reference to this "maybe," I said, "Just why should I trust your word?", intending next to ask for his address so that I could personally be refunded what was owed.
Admittedly the $34 is a minor sum, but I do not like having my trust abused, nor would I like to see anyone else taken advantage of by him. Furthermore, his site lists large Salvation Army and St. Vincent de Paul logos -- which is why I chose him; and I feel he is as well falsely using the cachet of these charities, which makes his actions doubly offense.
