Just Perfect! Home Staging & More Just Fraudulent! Wilmington North Carolina
A common fraud, so I am told, in the interior design business is to charge a retainer for your services upfront with the promise that you get a discount off of retail. When it comes time to purchase, the interior designer will charge you a mark-up on all of the furniture and knick knacks purchased.
Well if you've done business with Just Perfect! Home Staging you may have fallen victim to this scheme.
We were charged 2/3 of the full retainer in the 1st month. After making selections for the 1st phase of work we received a bill for the full amount of our seelctions. The bill wasn't itemized and the vendors were also not provided. After several requests the company would not provide the vendors as we were told "it is inefficent for them to provide this information." After some detective work shopping for the same pieces online, I.E. Wayfair.com we noted that Just Perfect attempted to charge us between 25% to 200% of retail costs. Their $30k bill in actuality was approx $12k in goods.
We confronted our designer and the owner and we were told "if we can get better prices we should place the order ourselves." After their breach of trust from their fraudulent and deceptive business practices we ceased using their consulting services. We placed the order ourselves and discontinued working with the company. After a 9 months went by, without any work performed, Just Perfect made an unauthorized charge to our credit card for 3rd retainer payment, even though they only performed 1 phase of 3 phases of work. After multiple requests for a refund the company refused to refund our money.
