I wonder if you have had any calls about K-marts advertisments. I've noticed over several years that they advertise items that they don't have in stock. They'll give out rain checks but will never call and tell you the item is in. I'm guessing they advertise "loss leaders" to get you in the store and once your there you will probably buy something. I have documented one experience and would like to know if it's just me or do others have this same problem.

On Sunday, March 3 2002, K-Mart advertised a "DX3" treadmill for $159.99. Monday, March 4 2002, my wife went to purchase one. She was told they did not have the item. She asked for a rain check and was told she could have one but they may or may not get one in. They actually wrote this on the rain check.

1.We contacted "Customer Service" through E-mail. Denise Trefil , customer support specialist.

2. She Contacted us on 3-15-02 and wanted the details of the item and price.

3. We replied 3-19-02

4. She told us,on 3-19-02, one would be shipped from a Houston store and should be here 3-5 days

5. On 3-28-02, We E-mailed her and said we had not heard from anyone

6. On 3-28-02, She told us The Houston store had not shipped the item because they were holding it for a rain check there.

She said they would ship and it should be at our local store 4-5-02.She would confirm and let us know.

7. On 4-8-02 we contacted her and told her we had not heard from anyone.

8. On 4-10-02 Denise contacted us and said the treadmill was shipped to the wrong store. She said she had contacted the vendor

and they would send one to our local store "specail delivery" Should be here in 2 weeks. She would send us a

"cash card" for the inconvenience.

9. On 4-25-02 we still don't have a treadmill. (we did get a $20 cash card)

If this is normal operating proceedure for K-Mart. If it is it shouldn't be.

9 weeks later, our conflict is resolved. We have the product we wanted and we got it for the price advertised.

It may have been less stressful had they not told me the item would be here on a certain date.

All is well
