Kars 4 Kids Promoting FREE 3 day 2 night Hotel for Donating a Car, after donation no free anything! ripoff Lakewood New Jersey
I had a car I was unable to repair as I already have another in the shop. I began to search for a worthwhile organization to donate my car to, and I found Kars4Kids, that is promoting on their face page a free 3 day 2 night hotel stay for donating a vehicle to them. I thought this was a great promotion.
I did not submit my information online I called the phone number advertised and was given a local number. I called them and they took the car.
Two days ago I received in the mail my Official Receipt from Kars4Kids Federal Tax ID# 22-3746050 and a Certificate for my free hotel stay from Worldwide Travel Center located in Deerfield Beach, Florida.
As I read the small print I observed I was going to be required to pay $50.00 for something and I had to own a major credit card. I do not own a major credit card I do have a debit card, but these are not accepted.
Yesterday I called Kars4Kids about this problem explaining I am retired and disabled and do not have a major credit card, I was assured yesterday, this would not be a problem just ask for extension 204 and talk to Alice. I tried to make reservations today, they would not complete the reservation because I have no major credit card, so I asked to speak to Alice at extension 204, I left a message as she only had voice mail available.
Then I called Kars4Kids again and spoke to someone who attempted to explain to me they are not responsible for the policies of Worldwide Travel and it is in the terms and conditions, I beg to differ I was never told of any terms and conditions until I received the so called certificate in the mail.
I additionally do not understand how a $50.00 charge is incurred for a free hotel stay. Nothing on the Kars4Kids face web page says anything about needing a major credit card or $50.00.
I am a disabled former Social Worker, I live on Social Security, it is not much and a free vacation would be great but I still have to pay to put my dog in the kennel, gas in my vehicle and food. I did not expect it to be totally free but this is a rip-off by a international 501 (c)(3) charity organization called J.O.Y, Inc.

Kars 4 Kids Vacation Voucher Restrictions

As a token of appreciation to our donors, Kars 4 Kids sends a complimentary two day / three night hotel voucher redeemable at many resort locations. There are restrictions in redeeming the voucher. This is noted on our print advertising and our website. The third-party vendor that provides these vouchers does the same under the same conditions for many multinational corporations, banks, credit card services, etc. As is noted on our website Driver's license required for verification of age and major bank credit card required - no debit cards. A credit card is required simply to guarantee your reservation. A $50 refundable deposit will be charged to hold the reservation and is then refunded upon your hotel stay. Even though Kars4Kids has no authority over the vacation voucher conditions, we have stepped in when our donors have complained about various difficulties in obtaining their vacation. We have always done our best to be responsive and to represent our donors' interests. Overall, our donors and Kars4Kids have been satisfied, and thus the relationship continues.

Received a call from Alice at Worldwide Travel Center!

I did finally receive a call from Alice, I explained I was told by a woman who answered the phone at kars4kids that a by pass would be available for a retired disabled person such as me on the issue of only being allowed to use the Certificate in conjunction with a major credit card. I was told by Alice that person was "misinformed" and I would not be allowed to use the certificate! But I could give it to one of my friends!
