Key Bank which operates in Colorado gave me notice that my bank accounts were to be closed September 1st, 2011. They will not give me any reason for this action and management has been very rude and unresponsive in this action. After investigating this bank on the Internet I found this to be a common action for this bank operating in Colorado. I have three accounts with this bank and average banking balance is always over $8,000.00 to $20,000.00. I opposed a hold put on a check through their corporate office and I was notified in one hour they were closing all my accounts. I asked for what reason and was told they "They reserved the right to cancel anyones account they chose".
I did nothing wrong and when I called the bank manager of the Thornton, Colorado branch whose name is Jim and he told me that he had no reason and that was that. I then proceeded to tell him that I would post online reviews about this bank and he threatened me with calling the local authorities, and he would contact his corporate security. I did not threaten him or his bank to warrant this action. I just told him I would post online reviews about this action. I am highly embarrassed by this action and I do not like being threatened by a bank executive for stating what I feel is wrong on the Internet. I do not have the time to take off from work to go and arrange new accounts with another bank. I am considering suing them for the actions and threats from the manager Jim of the Thornton, Colorado branch. There was no excuse for threatening me because I questioned their actions. I hope the phone conversation was taped by their office for further review by their corporate officers.
I would request an apology for this action. This action is very common for this bank supposedly if they feel that your account in not profitable in their eyes. It is tough enough in this economy to make ends meet without this further aggravation from Key Bank. I am filing a complaint with the Banking and Finance Division in Colorado of this bank for this is an ongoing pattern with this bank. They told me they reserve the right to cancel any account they choose for no reason at all and they do not have to give you a reason.
I reserve the right to post this on the Internet as much as I choose for this is my right as an American citizen. I should have checked their online reviews for this bank before I chose to do business with them.

#2Consumer Suggestion

Wed, December 11, 2013

It sounds like the consumer in this report created their own problem and the bank manager just gave them a straight answer that they didn't like. The general public sometimes becomes abusive and throws tantrums when they don't get their way while those who work for a living do their level best to proect the organizations they work for. May I suggest to the consumer that filed this report that they 1) grow up, 2) understand that the world doesn't revolve around them, 3) try working for a living and seeing that sometimes you are unable to make everyone happy.
