The employees of the Kwik Fill on West Fourth Street in Williamsport across the street from Roosevelt Middle School discriminate against the African-American children of the Williamsport community. The store has a rule that only one student is allowed unsupervised in the store at a time. However, this rule only seems to apply to African-American kids.

On several occasions I have witnessed verbal abuse towards young African-American boys between the ages of 10 and 14 by the two women who consistently work the evening hours at the convenience store.

On one occasion I witnessed one of the two female employees physically push a 15 year old boy to try and enforce their policy of 1 student in the store at a time. Mind you, this was at approximately 9:30 P.M. which is not the time frame for which that rule was established. The rule was established for right after school when the students would come across the street and all head into the store.

I feel that these employees should be severely reprimanded for both their conduct and their actions and a change of attitude or a change of occupation is in order for these employees.

If they dislike having the diverse people of the Williamsport community frequent their establishment, then their establishment should not be a part of our community. I am convinced that if the parents of these kids had been present in several instances that a lawsuit could very well have been filed by them.
