I have been a client of LA Weight Loss in Sugar Land, TX for over 2 years and have always been impressed and have recommended it to others. However, since the name changed to Pure Weight loss a while back, I have gotten increasingly unhappy.

Most of the counselors left, which tells me that it was no longer a great place to work either. Then the center suddenly closed a few weeks ago. There was no warning to the clients about this. This closure upset me for a number of reasons.

The first reason is that I was convinced to always buy my Lites in bulk at a discounted rate. Well, now I have a bulk of Lites with no center to get them from. There is no other center close enough by that I can drive there to get them. This is a lot of money to lose.

Secondly, with LA Weight Loss you have to prepay for your weeks. As I am still in the weight loss phase, I have all of the weeks of stabilization and maintenance that have been paid for, but will now go unused.

The sign on the door said that we could still call in for counseling if we would like. That is not enough for me. I need the accountability of weighing in and the measurements. Also, I need the personal touch of a real counselor. If I did not care about these things, I would have tried a less personal, and less expensive, weight loss avenue, such as E-Diets. Again, with the prepaid Lites and Prepaid weeks, I am at a huge financial loss here.

So far I have not received any word from Pure Weight Loss. I have sent 2 emails, a letter via snail mail, and tried calling. They obviously show no concern for their clients. The very same clients they have always claimed to care so much about.

I wonder if there is any way to get some of my money from the program refunded due to the centers closure? LA Weight Loss has endured its fair share of bad publicity. I would think that because of this, every measure would be made to keep what was left of the company's good name in tact. I, like many people around the country, saw the story on 20/20 about LA Weight Loss. I chose to ignore this story at the time, still believing in the company.

I feel like I am on the road to being a success story, having lost 92 pounds since starting with LA Weight Loss. So I know that the company can help produce results. I was a huge advocate of the company and always proudly told people I was a client there whenever they asked how I was losing my weight.

This brings me to another point of contention. With the center closing without warning, I have no idea what happened to my file. This file contained my before pictures (which were the only fat pictures that I have), as well as pictures of me throughout my weight loss journey. These photos are very important to me, yet no have value to anyone else. I would like to have these so that I can see how far I have come.

While it seems that I am completely unhappy with my whole experience with LA Weight loss, I want to clarify one thing. I was very happy there for a long time. I really felt like the counselors cared about my success and I saw them work countless hours for what I can only assume was little pay. These counselors (2 in particular) motivated me and kept me going when I wanted to quit. I probably would not be where I am now if not for these two ladies. So I don't want it believed that everything about the center was awful. However, the recent turn of events has left a VERY bad impression of the company on me. And unless something is done to rectify the damage, I will make sure to continue to spread the word about what a ripoff this company turned out to be.

Weight loss is a very emotional journey and it is very disheartening for a company that I had so much faith in to close its doors without so much as a word. I would like to know what can be done financially to compensate for the prepaid weeks and the prepaid Lites.

First of all CONGRATS to you TP for your 92 pound loss! WOW! I would love to take all the credit for that, but you did the work...and I may not even know you! I worked for LA / PURE for many years. What can I say? I loved my job. I have a weight loss story as well and could talk about weight loss all day long. I love the industry. It was a HUGE shock to all of us as well about the centers closing. Employees had no notice as well. I can speak for myself and a handful of others. One week we are working over 60 hours a week without lunches and the next week we were told that our centers were only going to operate 30 hours per week, people were going to be laid off, and all pay was going to be cut by at least 70 %! That lasted for two weeks then the hours dropped down to 20. The 20 hours lasted for three weeks and now they are closing. ( Most of us left over 2 months ago and our unemployment was denied ) Yes, we took lay offs and left with our integrity. I honestly believe that all weight loss programs work. The key to success is finding the right program for you and you working the program. Is it easy all of the time? NO! That's why you have the program and the center visits to hold you accountable and motivate you! Call customer service and get your money back! Then I would recommend that you do your research on the program that is going to be best for you. Don't give up on your weight loss... OR getting your money back. Houston,TX
