Lady of America rip-off slow processing Layton Utah
I have just received a letter from Lady of America Customer Service indicating they will be turning me into collections for an unpaid balance. I contacted them in the beginning of September 2002 to cancel my membership because I would be moving they indicated to me I would be better off letting my payment go for October and fullfill my one year contract and then cancelling without any fees.
So I agreed. On October 1st,2002 I received a letter my contract was up and now I was on a month to month basis which would continue billing unless I contact them. I did contact them and again told them to cancel my membership I would be moving they indicated they would and I would need to send an e-mail confirming my cancellation. So I did on October 7, 2002 I thought cancelled my contract for the last time.
When I opened my credit card statement in December I realized they billed me again for the month, my credit card company removed the charges right away. Now today I received a notice from Lady of America customer service that said I owe them $49.95 a monthly fee plus return fee because the credit card company refused the charge. I explain how I cancelled this and that I sent an e-mail etc. The girl I spoke to got quite rude and explained that it takes 30 days to process a cancellation and that that put me past the Nov. 1 billing period "HOW CONVIENENT" and that if I don't pay the fee I will be sent to collections.
I even explain to the person I had spoke to several other people on numerous occassions and that no one had ever told me that. To bad she explained. I do not think I should be strong handed into paying something that I cancelled a long time ago with the threat of my credit!!!!!!!
