Law Offices of Nancy L. Cavey CAVEY AND BARRETT OVERCHARGES St. Petersburg Florida
Nancy Cavey formily of Cavey and Barrett handled/s workers compensation cases for many injured first responders, (firefighters and Police) She is extremely agressive so much so that she charges fees and costs for things legally she is not entitled to additionally for services she never performed. She is in fact a leach especially on first responders. Look up cases through the judge of compensations claims in Tampa contact the people she represented ask if they checked her outragious fees and costs and wheather or not they scrtunized them. Most never do and just take a settlement after being disgusted with the work comp system. Not me. She overcharged thousdands for work never done and not legally not entitled to. She has been in law for many years and knows just how to suck the life out of her clients shes very cunning and has represented both work comp carriers and injuried parties which she does not duvulge to her perspective clients, to me this is a conflict.. How the Judges have not loked her up or the bar not disbarred her is amazing but befitting for a corupt system that cares less fo rthe injured parties. Everone makes out, the judges attorneys,paralegals,mediators etc everyone but the injured party who gets nothing from there attorney but financial hardache. Work comp is ugly to begin with but even uglier when Nancy Cavey gets ahold of your case. A good friend of mine a firefighter was shocked when he heard I hired her and begged me to go elsewhere. He was right and I almost paid for services never provided. this can be easily verified through the judges offic so I fear no retaliation for defamation here. she was caught and lost. Stay away she advertises heavely thats the game, did deep shes a leach.

I too, have a current and past (won) case with Nancy Cavey ESQ. I have read your complaint and I'm sorry to hear the bitterness in the body of your message. I haven't experienced ANY of what you are describing. Ms Cavey is indeed a pitbull in a skirt, she's good at what she does, very confident and hard working. I have paid my fees like all other clients, but she got the job done! Why not charge for a winner? I mean, what else would you expect. There are many choices for attorney's out there, you chose a good one , and it sounds like the monetary outcome you received wasnt' to your liking so now you whine on this website.
At one point you had enough faith in her to know all these fees, but yet continue to allow her to represent you.
Life is good. Suck it up and move forward.
I have brought all my friends / family who need the type of services she offers to her office they've all won, are happy so there at least 12 people that i know for a fact disagree with you.
ALWAYS READ THE CONTRACT BEFORE YOU SIGN, SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO CRY LATER.

I agreee 100% with Jimmys report. She was my attorney years ago. She padded the bill. At one point she was sending my boxes the size of office printer paper boxes fed ex to my home without telling me why. Most of the papers I already had and sent to her. Envelopes started showing up in the mail every other day loaded with redundant letters and forms. I found out why at the settlement. She charged me for every page some 600 dollars + and the postage, in addition to charging me paralegal fees for the work (copies) she ordered to send.
Under work comp statutes she was not allowed to charge and knew better, the paralegal fees were in excess of over 900 dollars. She had to remove them. It makes you wonder how long she has been doing this and getting away with it. The bar should audit her I bet she owes 10's of thousands to clients. My opinion, the second she sent the bill in the mail for paralegal fees that she know was illeagle then she should have been charged with mail fraud. But nothing was ever done and so she continues to line her pockets off other peoples blood.
