Lawn Designers ripoff dishonest business without actual ability to handle contract Sumter South Carolina
I strongly recommend you do not deal with this lawn care service company, because they do not know about lawn maintenace. Our front yard looks terrible and grass is totally dead.
I signed up contract with them on 7/14/2004. The owner of the business, Ray Owens, told me that they deal with fertilizing and weed control as well as mowing and edging. He did not tell me that he is not speciallized to spray yard or licenced to use special chemicals, so what he uses was Weed'B Gone. Without knowing, I agreed to pay $75 to get treated with WEED'B GONE. Well, but this is not main problem. We pay over $100 per month thorughout the year for him to mow the yard from March to October, as well as leaf removal, fertlization twice, and weed control once. That was the contract.
Right after first application of weed control in early August, our St. Augastine grass was dying with weed. I contacted him many times regarding this issue. Finally in October, I stopped payment to get his attention. Then he came over to my home. I asked him to stop further treatment of the yard with any chemicals. He was appologetic and stated that he was not sure of the cause of grass detariolation. I said to him that we need to replace sod. He offered that they would replace it without charge for labor, if we pay for sod. And he also told me that probably better waiting for spring to do the work because the sod would turn brown soon anyway.
Now when spring came, he refused to do the work he promissed. Today (4-7-05) on the phone, he kept saying that it is not his fault that our lawn is dead because what he had used was just Weed'B Gone, and he would not work without pay. He mentioned that probably bugs killed our yard. So I asked him how he would take responsbility as a professional for overlooking the grass was dying for bugs and not informing me that I had to get more knowledgeble professional to take care of the problem. He hung up on me three times and after that he even did not pick up the phone.
Now what we have to do is asking another professional and spending probably over $1000 to replace sod after we have paid throughout the year to supposingly 'profesisonal lawn maintenace' to take care of our yard.
