Complaint Review: Lazboy - South Carolina

Here are reasons why no one should ever buy furniture from a La-Z-Boy Gallery. I will only speak of what I have witnessed first hand from working there several years. This will be isolated to the La-Z-Boy Galleries in Lexington, Greenville, Charleston SC, Charlotte NC and one in Augusta GA. Here forwards know as Tipperary Sales.

1- PRICE. A customer will always pay for big items a minimum of 20%-30% higher for the product they can purchase elsewhere. If a customer would just write down or take a picture of the model number and fabric number, you could call any "mom and pop" dealer and get the same unit(s) for a lot less cost. Here is an example: Tipperary Sales has aleather sofa called the "Greyson" in power listed for $2999.98. I have found this exact sofa from a competitor for $2,199.00. Some time as low as $1,999.98. Another example is the "Pinnacle" leather recliner. Tipperary Sales has this marked on sale at $899.98. You can purchase this for $599.98 at other places.

2- In Home Design. This is the biggest scam they offer. They promote this as a free service to assist you in creating your room and make sure you do not make any mistakes. If they truly offered this as free service, then why do they demand your purchase to have a minimum of 15% to be either tables, lamps or rugs (accessories). They will only offer this if they can guarantee you will add this to your ticket. It is designed to get into your home to see if they can add more to your purchase.

3- Pictures of your delivery. Tipperary Sales states they do this to show they have delivered the furniture with no issues. This is a LIE! The real reason they take pictures is to allow the company and their employees to view them and gather information on your home. They are looking for add on's like rugs, tables, etc. Anyone form either store can get a first hand look into your home without your knowledge.

4- Life time warranty. What a joke. There is no such thing as a lifetime of free parts and labor. Just knowing what questions to ask will reveal more than you realized. Ask how long of free labor you have. The answer is just one year. Ask about a "trip charge". The fee for a tech to knock on your door just to look at your unit is $100.00. Labor is $100.00 an hour also.

5- Protection plan. You do not need this. All units come from the warehouse with the treatment already applied. It would be impossible for them to keep up with what units need a spray and others that do not. There solution, spray them all. The treatment will prevent spills and stains for many years. They will jot tell you this. The company gets a huge kick back from the protection company for selling this.

6- Advertising. Why are there so many people unaware that they can buy from someone else? The owner of Tipperary Sales has purchased an agreement with La-Z-Boy stating that no one within so many miles of his stores can advertise they sell La-Z-Boy product. The consumer is clueless they can buy the exact product for a lot lower price.

Listed above is a few examples of what I have witnessed first hand. If you are in the market for a La-Z-Boy product, I would love to assist anyone looking to purchase find it for a lesser price. I know so many dealers and what the true cost should be. Never under any circumstance buy form a Gallery. You are overpaying by hundreds/thousands of dollars.
