Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
After signing a lease agreement for a credit/debit card machine, I closed my business. I did the honorable thing and notified CIT. They had permission to withdraw the payment directly from my checking account. Once I notified them they withdrew a double payment. I then started receiving harrassing phone calls...their employee informed me "YOU OWE ME $2000!" He was screaming at me and demanding I pay him immediately! The caller was nasty and would not work with me on payments. I called them back and got another employee. I told them I would send payment each month, they wanted to withdraw from my personal account or use a credit card. I have since sent a payment every month to them on time. My account will be paid in full in Sept. I called to get the pay off not realizing they would be able to record my unlisted number. They called and demanded payment even though I sent a payment 5 days earlier. This company employees nasty, rude, crude people. Seems to me they must be having a difficult time with their own finances if they must use these tactics to obtain money due them in advance!

Hi Diane, Before I add the rest of my comments that I am attaching to all other CIT Rip-Reports. I would like to say you are absolutely right in your concerns. Briefly, here is what happened to us. First we were only physically given an incomplete copy from the Sales Rep. of MSI of NY (They changed their name to EVO ie www.goevo.com). We didn't even know about CIT. Then all of a sudden, when we asked CIT, we received a copy of a completely filled out form. Needless to say, this was a forgery. Even if you did receive a legitimate copy, was the monthly payment on the form the same as what you are actually payment. Ours was not. This fact alone goes against the "Truth in Lending Act". Did you have a cooling off clause???? In California, if there is no Cooling Off Clause, the contract is illegal. I could go on... Here is the advise I am sending to all the others who have a Rip-Off Report filed: Hi, You may want to sent a complaint to FTC (Federal Trade Commission) . I did and received a response saying they don't do individual cases. However, if they log enough complaints, they will start an investigation and possibly legal action. So here is the link: https://rn.ftc.gov/pls/dod/wsolcq$.startup?Z_ORG_CODE=PU01 to the FTC complaint form. I've told many people about it, so you may want to do the same. Make sure you give specific examples or even let them know you have documentation of deceptive or misleading information. Also, if possible, please scan & send copies of these documents to me at [DELETED]. I haven't given up, but it does take a while for the squeaky wheel to be heard. As far as CIT, here is their main site: http://www.cit.com/main/default.htm . Also, within this site, I found e-mails and have sent copies of my rip-off report, including a copy of all the complaints listed under Lease Finance Group in the Rip-Off site. Here are some e-mail addresses, you may want to send your concerns to: [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], I did get the Rip-Off Report Do-It-Yourself Guide and it did have some good steps to follow. However, it was a little lacking in the cyberspace rip-offs. I've been paralleling the thoughts or ideas in this Guide to try to apply them to the internet. For example, instead of sending faxes, send e-mails. So every web site I am interested in, I look for e-mails and make up a group listing & start bombarding them with e-mails and include my rip-off report, plus any other rip-off concerns. I hope this helps. Thanks, G for California

These kind of harrassing comments is exactly why I posted this message. Many bussiness have closed due to the economy and 9/11. To place blame on poor accounting and management shows ignorance. My reason for closing my business was NOT because of your lease! You should find out the facts before placeing blame and harrassing people. An agreement was made with your company to make monthly payments as one of your employees said, "just make the regular monthly payment!" There are laws coverning harrassment of this kind!

when signing a non-cancellable lease, Diane, you must remember that once you breach the terms, then you owe the full amount all at once. It is also very hard to believe that the reason you closed your business was this lease! bad accounting and business practices is what led you to close down, as well as default on your lease which would explain the collection calls. You also complain that you did the 'honorable' thing, the honorable thing in this situation would be to follow up with the legal agreement you made and pay the lease in full. P.S. read your leases/agreements before you sign them, or ask someone to read it for you if it's too hard to understand, instead of trying to glorify your mistake by posting those comments, when you agreed to everything that happened in the lease.
