We did close the claim after receiving a written request to close it. The claimant later stated that the letter was fraudulent and was very upset. We asked him to submit a claim form claiming that he did not close the previous claim because we wanted it in writing as he was accusing our customer of forging a letter. This was not to hurt the claimant, but to support him.
We did stop taking his phone calls because he was yelling and cussing at our employees. He was told that any written inquiries would be responded to but we would not accept unprofessional phone calls.
There has been a bit of a communication barrier in determining exactly what this complaint has been about. I believe he feels he has "lost his place in line" due to his claim having been temporarily closed for alleged fraudulent reasons. This is not the case. His claim is still scheduled to be paid first. We are simply waiting to ensure additional claims do not come in prior to paying the complete amount.
I have personally offered this explanation on several forums. I'm not sure what the issue is at this point. The Better Business Bureau asked this man to stop harassing us via his complaints which lacked any form of validity. We recommend checking business reputations with the BBB because they investigate complaints rather than just providing a free open forum for people to post slanderous accusations without providing evidence. Sites like this should be illegal and the site owners should be held liable for the defamation of companies affected.
