Complaint Review: Lilnudist April Arguen Lil Nudists Sphynx Kittens Cats - Cocoa Florida

As usual april putting her spin on things,,, lilnudist are dishonest and are unethicle breeders.

I am the owner of the sick cat (Mira) that was sent to us by Lilnudists cattery / April Arguin / Kristin Herstine. When the cat was sent to me, she was small, however she was a baby and was told she came with a clean bill of health from their vet. When she arrived, she would not eat the Raw food that April told me she was being fed the whole time, this cat would not touch it and would only eat canned food.  She would eat 2 large cans of food a day.  As time progressed, the cat started becoming lethergic and losing weight very quickly (we had her just over a month).  I notified April as soon as I noticed something was wrong and took her to the veterinary hospital here in Virginia Beach, VA.  The Vet at the ER who also used to own a Sphynx, came in and evaluated her.  After looking at her, she removed a vial of yellow fluid from Mira's abdomen.  The Vet said that this was THE telling sign that the cat had what is known as WET FIP, which is almost always fatal in cats and comes from households/catteries with more than 5 cats and is a mutation of the corona virus that many cats carry (I do not have any other pets).  The vet wanted to send out the test.  I immediately called April and informed her of the situation.  April demanded that I do not send out the test, because the vet didn't known anything and wanted to speak to the vet directly.  April told the vet that her cattery had an outbreak of Garadia not long ago and wanted the vet to giver her medicine for worms, and antibiotics.  The vet did not think this was the case, however after April argued with the vet, the vet gave her what she wanted.  The vet was only going to give the cat prednisone to make her more comfortable.  April then demanded that I return the cat to them to be nursed back to health. I took time off work the next day to drive the cat to their breeder in Northern Virginia.  After driving 5 hours to meet up with the other breeder Jayme DesDunes, the cat was rudely SNATCHED out of my hands as we were saying goodbye to her and Jayme sped off quickly. 

I returned home later that night, and received a text message at 4:00 am saying the cat had died, only hours after she was given the medicine by them that the vet didn't want her to take. I was told that she would then be sent out for Necropsy by their vet (which Kristin works for).  A few days later the necropsy came back, saying that nothing was found. I only received a cut off screen shot (page 3 of 3) as proof, I also wanted a second opinion but they said that the corpse was no longer available.  April then started texting me accusing me of neglecting her and that the reason she died was my fault. Mira was spoiled rotten and treated like a queen. When I received this text, I immediately when back to the Vet Hospital to speak with the doctor again.  The doctor read the text and said that she sticks by her diagnosis of FIP and was appalled that these accusations were being made.  The doctor told me that if they believed the cat was neglected that she would not have been returned to me.  April then went on to say that the contract was void and that I would not be getting a replacement cat, or my money back and that lilnudists would no longer do business with me.

 I did not receive any paperwork on the cat until 2 weeks after we got her.  None of the health guarantee information was included, when I did contact April about the health insurance, she sent me a code that was expired with no explanation as to why.

A few weeks later, I received a facebook message from another member who also had the same issue happen with her cat that she received from April.  It turns out that one of her cats was my kitten's sister.  She ended up ok, but the other cat that she received from them started getting the same symptoms that Mira did and the cat ended up dying the exact same way. April then saying that the cat was neglected.  This is a horrible scam this breeder is running, the customer service is poor and they are stealing peoples money by refusing to honor their contracts and selling sick cats.  Do not believe anything that was written in April's posts.

What I have written is factual, and I stand by it.  STAY AWAY if you value the life of your pets.  I hope that nobody else has to experience the heartache that we have gone through.

The review section of the Lilnudists facebook page was removed as more people came forward with problems from this breeder.  They don't want this issue brought to light.

•  i recently found a kitten from lilnudist in Jacksonville owned by April Arguin Boggs and her mother Wendy Arguin. I put a deposit of $350 down on a $1,200 kitten. We were supposed to meet on Aug. 21 to pick him up. A Day or so before pick up, she changed it to 24th, and then changed it once again to the 30th. She finally confessed when pressed for an answer why, it was because all her kittens were riddled with ringworm. She said her mother brought a known cat into the cattery that had been treated previously, (apparently not good enough because all her cats in her cattery contracted ringworm.)

  I asked her if my daughter could get it, was it contagious? She said no, not if you wash your hands. Well i hung up and did research, and yes it is very contagious, very hard to get rid of and can take up to 18 months to eradicate. I am a nurse i cannot risk getting it and infecting my patients nor do i want my family exposed. I politely asked for my deposit back stating we don’t feel comfortable with this medical situation. That is when April became very defensive and nasty, saying all catteries have it and it is not a big deal. She said she would ask her mother. She called back saying she was not giving our deposit back and we are no longer a suitable cat adopter because we don’t want to deal with a cat that has medical issues. We responded with the kitten has not been received, we were buying a 100% healthy kitten and you can’t guarantee it won’t come back after the pills are given. I asked how you can give me a health certificate if the cat is sick. She said it doesn't matter we are not letting you adopt it and offered no other future cat from a litter. This is not fair I thought I was buying from a reputable breeder who belongs to TICA, it is not my fault she brought a sick cat in her home and infected all her cats. She says it will be cured after pills and topical in five days and said most breeders would not have even told me about it and gave me the cat. I responded with wouldn't my vet have noticed it on the vet visit you are required to go to in 72 hours? She said we are terrible owners because i do not want to risk getting ringworm fungus in my carpets, new cat bedding and cat tree I just bought. It says you must throw out everything because the spores can last 18 months on those things. Did April throw out her bedding, cat swing tree and clean everything with bleach? no the video cam she has proved that. So she cannot guarantee me a healthy animal and just said too bad, a deposit is a deposit and is keeping my 350 dollars.(mind you this same cat had a $350 deposit before us confiscated by Lilnudist probably for the same reason) that’s $750 she stole in deposits and ended up selling the cat to someone else on the same date of our scheduled pick up at $1,200.It is not right, she says a deposit is a deposit, but i can see that if we just decided to back out for no reason, but this is not the case and something she caused. She brought an infected cat in her home and infected the cat i was supposed to get. i can’t risk that for myself or my immune compromised patients at the hospital not to mention april is a dental hygienist, can you imagine??

I've known April for 2 almost 3 years.  I also have two wonderful and healthy boy Sphynx from her.   I know this story is false as she has always stayed in contact and answered any questions if I ever had any.  April also reviews all of her customers before she thinks of letting go of one of her babies.  THere are web cams to see how clean the playroom they are kept in and to see how fast the babies are growing...also posting videos of everyones adopted babies as they grow on the Lilnudist Cattery Facebook page.

Please do not take the original post to heart.  This breeder and her partner breeder are great.  I got a kitten from her cattery back in May 2013. Her partner in the Orlando area actually drove over an hour to meet me in Orlando so we could exchange the cat and the papers.  Before meeting her i was getting lots of texts and pictures of my kitten.  When she took my kitten to the last vet checkup i got a few more texts and pictures from the vets office. I had all the information as promised and the cat is very healthy and a wonderful addition to my family.   As i type this he's sitting next to my keyboard curled up in his blanket sleeping.

If you are interested in this cattery please look them up on facebook.  Myself and others who have bought cats from them are always posting pictures of how they are doing.  There are also tons of videos of the kittens while at her house and you can see how happy and healthy they are at the cattery.  They really do care about the health and happiness of the kittens and cats.  Any questions i had i just emailed them and within 24 hours they answered me.  Also talked on the phone a few times to both April and her partner breeder and they were nothing but plesent.  They explanined everything involved in getting this breed from bathing to ear cleaning to keeping them warm and cozy.  

Also just a side note... when you purchase your kitten they give you a blanket, a toy and a cd with tons of pics of your kitten. 

She is a great person

First of all, I don't even know what to say to this other than it is total and complete bologna. I am a very happy sphynx cat owner, and I purchased my wonderful baby from April Arguin of LilNudists cattery.  From the moment I contacted April with interest in one of her babies she was very professional, helpful and trustworthy. I had no problem recieving my healthy, happy purebred sphynx cat.  Infact, my vet even complimented my cats health. He said that my kitty was extremely healthy and well cared for, which was obvious from the moment I recieved her at the airport.  She was alert, had clean ears, clean teeth, and greeted me with a head butt.  My kitty came with many papers, including a clean bill of health from a veterianarian in Cocoa, Florida.  In response to April not returning any phone calls or e-mails, I cannot believe that this statement is true.  It has been a year and 3 months since I have made my purchase, and I still get friendly e-mails from April inquiring about her baby. April Arguin always made time to answer any of my phone calls, e-mails and even text messages.  I would recommend April to anyone who is looking to add one of these beautiful and intelligent cats to their family.

This report is rediculous.  We bought our baby Harrry in April 2009 and the whole process has been completely positive.  April was very helpful and informative and she is always a phone call or email away.  Our kitten was happy and healthy and we have had no problems since we got him.  We have had experiences with other breeders, and we wish that all breeders had the same caring attitude that April does.  She was great and still is and we would recommend her to anybody looking for an informed, intelligent sphynx breeder. 

My boyfriend and I have wanted a Sphynx for awhile so I started doing my research and found April. She caught my eye not only because she was close by but because she seemed to really love her cats and her prices were the best around and I found that she offered more guarantees than any other breeder that I found in Florida.

Back in June or July of 2009 I first contacted April after seeing her website. From that first e-mail with her she worked with me and helped me with my situation. I had just started a new job and she offered to have the deposit lower than her normal $300 so I could reserve the kitten that I wanted so badly.

We visited her house for the first time in August and I was very surprised at the set up. Her living room was full of cat houses and cat toys. Her entire back bedroom was just for new born kittens and their mothers so they had privacy from her other cats and dogs. And most impressive was the whole back room of her house was dedicated to the cats. She gave us a tour of every room and let us stay as long as we liked and answered every question we asked. And for a new potential Sphynx owner, I was very thankful for her.

When the litter of our cat was born at the end of August we kept in contact with April about which cat we would choose. We were torn between a couple of them so she offered to reserve them for us until we were able to visit and choose since she genuinely cared and wanted us to be happy with our decision. Despite her busy schedule she always worked us in one way or another so we could spend some time with our kitten.

We continued to take a couple more visits to her house and each time it was clean and all the animals were happy and healthy. She even had frequent youtube video updates of our baby and a LIVE web cam set up so we could see him 24 hours a day.

When the day finally came that we were able to come pick him up we got everything we were promised. All the shots, baby blanket, toy, photo album of him as he was a baby, and all the papers.

As I type this my baby is running around the house like the happy kitten he is. I have never seen a more loving, energetic, and healthy kitten in my life. He really is everything April said he would be and more. I couldn't be more happy with him! I have too many nice things to say about April and I am more than satisfied. She definitely exceeded my expectations and really knows what she's doing. Any accusations such as this report is utterly false.

I can't thank April enough and if there is one last thing to say it is that she is the complete opposite of what this report says. She is loving towards her cat and cares for them as if they were her own children. Anyone that meets her will instantly know that she is nothing like what this original report accuses.

I currently have one of April's beloved cats in my family.  I knew from the minute we decided to adopt him into our home that April would be part of our lives, too.  She made it very clear that her cats are her babies and that she wanted this kitty to go to someone who would keep in touch with her.  I was invited into her home to meet him and her other kittens and I was given complete medical information for him.  he is healthy, happy and well adjusted and has been since day 1.  April chose to get my kitty neutered even though he was a breeder for her and had many years left in him as a breeder. She did this because she thought it would be better for his personality and happiness.    I know that she lost a lot of money in making that decision, but it is a perfect example of how her cats come before anything.  April stays in touch with us via email and has even come by to visit. The person writing the original report is obviously trying to tarnish April's reputation- it goes against everything that I know from personal experience about Lil Nudists. I would recommend this breeder to anyone who is looking for a sphynx.

This report is entirely false. I would just like to state that I have two beautiful healthy Sphynx cats that I bought from April Arguin. My experience with her as been nothing short of fabulous. She is both kind and trustworthy and it's obvious that she enjoys raising her cats.

She gave me all the papers showing they were pure-bred along with all their shot records. She also sent them with a blankets, food, and pictures from the time they were born unitl when I received them. I was allowed to come pick them up at her house had I wanted to. The prices listed on this report are also wrong.

I am one of the happy owners of a kitten that I had purchased from April at the Lil Nudist Cattery last year. My Sphinx kitten was in perfect health when I picked him up at April's home. I visited her home to first see the kittens and pick out which one I was going to take home. At the time the kitten was to young so I had to come back in a couple weeks.

I was amazed at the setup with all the different rooms for the cats. Everything was neat and clean and you could tell she put a lot of effort into taking care of her kittens and older cats. April gave me all the literature and pictures and vaccination schedules for my kitten.

Just to make sure I had a healthy cat I took him to my own vet for an examination when I got him home. He was in perfect health. My cat E.T. is apart of our family now and I would buy another kitten from April if I had room. She is very reputable.

These accusations of sick cats hits me by surprise. I don't understand how this person could say these kinds of things when I saw with my own eyes the kind of breeder she really is. I hope this helps other buyers who would be interested in purchasing a Sphinx from April. She is trustworthy and lives up to her word.

What is this world is coming to, someone choose to lie about someone else just to help their business, i do understand why you are doing it, but this is not the right way to help your business, a good breed won't lie like this, they would only breed great loving and health pet, and that what this young lady give us all, i was told of her by many who purchase from her, so i purchase 1 kitten from her, and was so please and happy with my kitten i purchase a second kitten from her, so i know that you are a liar, my cats are health and very out going, and that all of her doing, she not just a breeder she a real lover of cats, and her kitten show just that, no fear of anything or anyone, and for your deiver issue, you must know she won't ship a kiiten that not ready to leave mom , or it's to cold or hot to ship, yes she will do that ! my first baby was delay due to weather, nothing more and i thank God he made some people that loves the pet more than the $$$$$$$$$. it's clear you are not and never will be one of those from your words on this website. anyway i would be glad to show off my wonderful cats from this breeder, drop me an email and i'll send you a picture of them.

I have not only purchased a Sphynx kitten from April (in 2008), but she helped coordinate my adoption of a rescue Sphynx cat a few months later. She was nothing short of being overly concerned with providing me with a healthy kitten and still periodically checks in to be sure all is well with both of the cats I received from her. She provided health records for both cats and did a lot of calling and follow up to check on the transitioning of both of them. April provided pictures of my kitten all the way up to the day she put her on a plane to me. I was working with April from a long distance (Seattle) and felt she provided all the information I needed to feel comforatble with purchasing my kitten. The same holds true for the rescue cat I adpoted through her. Both cats to date are healthy and happy....and if I could afford to buy more kittens, I would contact April immediately to do so.

I purchased an F3 cat for my breeding program.  April and I communicated at length about this particular kitten and the pros and cons of her and her sibling.  April wanted to make sure I was getting the right kitten for my needs.  She was upfront and honest about the kitten not being as outgoing and "sphynx-y" as her sister, but she had better confirmation and attributes that I needed in my cattery.

The cat arrived in perfect health, and a follow up visit to my vet confimed this.  She was shy at first, but well adjusted and socialised.  She was fine when intorduced to my other cats.  Once she was comfortable in my home, she ended up being a very sweet girl.

April did send the wrong papers, but she brought this to my attention before I even noticed it, and sent me the correct papers ASAP. This is something I have done, myself!  It is easy enough to mark the wrong box on the litter certificate..no biggie and it was handled very professionally. 

April has continued to send me emails, and even a birthday card for Ruby.  As a breeder myself, I would recommend April to anyone looking for a kitten.  I have dealt with unprofessional and uncaring breeders, and she is not one of them. 

PS.  My vet would never revaccinate a kitten like that, nor would she vaccinate a sick kitten, nor would it cost $200.  Perhaps you need to find another vet.  Most breeders do home vaccination.  The ONLY vax that my kittens get at the vet is rabies and that is because it is state law.

clearly you do not have to follow the terms of service rules when writing your claim as we do when posting a rebuttal.  shame.

for anyone who has met april, purchased one of her kittens or had ever had any dealings with april, they will know immediately that your post of full of lies and slander. 

i adopted my baby boy Bender from april in august, 2008.  from the get go i knew she was different from other breeders.  april loves her babies as if they were her children.  even before i had decided on her cattery to get my sphynx kitty she sent me numerous pictures of her few available kittens (a sign of a good reputable breeder, btw) and videos of the boys in action.  after i decided to go with her, she then worked with me to determine the personality of which kitten would be perfect for me and my family and even invited me to her home to meet the two i had narrowed it down to before making my final decision.  when it was time to bring my boy home, i drove to aprils house with my sons and we picked up our new naked baby boy....it was love at first site.  some breeders cage their cats and therefore, their cats are nervous, scared and try to run away.  NOT so with bender and his brothers...he was immediately loving, calm and purring.  we visited with april, her family and benders brothers while the rest of our paperwork was finished...they even helped us decide on his name!!  all the proper care instructions were reviewed and i was free to ask as many questions as i wanted.  our registration papers were reviewed, food and vitamin samples were packed for us, a brand new toy, a sweater and baby blanket were sent along with us for bender.  april asked if she could carry him out to our car and say good bye....she even had tears in her eyes as she said goodbye to the boy she had raised and loved for the past 11 weeks.  upon arriving home i emailed april, and told her that bender was safe and sound at his new home and what a wonderful boy he was on the car ride. april has been in contact with us at all times...even to just say thanks with i send her an update on my boy.

bender is now 1 1/2 years old and is the apple of our family's eye!!! he was and is in perfect health from the moment we got him....i have NEVER met a cat who is so loving, curious, and playful.  he is a delight to everyone who meets him!!  from little babies to old people.  he sleeps curled at my chest every night, purring contentedly as i drift off to sleep and wakes my girlfriend in the morning "making biscuits" on her...AND!!! on bender's first birthday, we got a happy birthday card from april!!! now how awesome is that?!?!?!?? 

we have recently been considering getting another sphynx and there is NO WAY i would EVER consider buying from any breeder but April and LIL NUDISTS CATTERY!!!

I had the complete opposite experience! I visited April at her house and saw the kitties in person. I had her even nurse a sick kitty in her home for me and she came to my house to pick him up. I have never had a problem reaching her at anytime!! Her address is listed on your contract so you can see she is not hiding from anyone.  On her website she clearly shows that she attends cat shows and if she ever is trying to find a home for a kitty she always emails me. Kittens get sick. These guys are more sensitive than your normal house cat! I think these guys are just upset they had vet bills, which is just part of taking care of your new family member. I would completely stand up for April as a breeder. 

Wow! This report is a complete shock to see! I purchased a Sphynx cat from April of LilNudists Cattery last year. My cat Aphrodite was shipped to me from Florida to Missouri. I had a LOT of communication with April before I decided to get my cat and she was always very helpful and informative. She was just as worried about the wellbeing of the cat as she was that I was getting the right pet for myself.

When I received my cat, she came with everything April said she would, the carrying/travel case, a blanket, a photo album of her photos, her shot record and her papers from TICA and CFA that I just had to fill out, send in and tranfer to my own name. In the last year, I have remained in contact with April, and have never once had a problem getting ahold of her, whether it's via phone or email. I understand in some states, breeders are not supposed to bring people into the place where they breed their cats. Not sure how that works in Florida, but that is a law in some places, so many breeders will want to meet you somewhere. April even told me that if for any reason things didn't work out for Aphrodite and my family to let her know so she could go back to LilNudists. She's always answered any questions I've had and even occasionally she will email or call me just to check in and see how Aphrodite is doing! I would absolutely (and often do whenever anyone asks where I got my cat) recommend April and LilNudists. I'm actually considering adopting another Sphynx this coming year and my only qualification was that it HAS to come from LilNudists!!! I've never come in contact with a breeder who cares so much for her kitties. This is a very hard to take in report. I will continue to do business with LilNudists.

I bought a sphynx from April almost 2 yrs ago and continue to keep in touch with her.  I went to her house and she helped me pick out a good match for our family.  I picked the kitten up at her house and she gave me all of the proper paperwork, a CD of my kitten's first weeks and an invitation to contact her with any problems, concerns or questions.  I did contact her several times with questions and she always answered promptly.  I breed goldendoodles, so I know what constitutes a good breeder and she is one.  As far as the vaccines go, it is standard practice for the breeder to give the immunizations.  Kittens are prone to upper respiratory conditions, especially in their early days.  To give you an example of April's character, I called her recently when my sister's sphynx kitten (gotten from a breeder up North) was sick for some advice.  She offered to take the kitten and try to nurse it back to health for FREE.  If she didn't honestly care about animals, she would not have made this gesture.  Pls pay no attention to the ridiculous complaint...probably a competitor!!

I found this the other day, and was floored! I bought a super sweet male sphynx kitten from april, she was and still is VERY helpful, she answers EVERY question.. and knows what shes doing.. I did alot of looking around before desiding to go with lilnudlist for my 1st sphynx. I picked out the kitten I wanted I didn't goto her house I live in GA but I told april what we are looking for in a cat she picked the perfect one for us! I put down my 300 deposit, then made payments until he was ready to ship to me.. I picked him up at the airport end of may that was soooo fun I might add. She called me to be sure he got here ok, and she mailed me his papers within a weeks time. I have emailed her pics and asked a few questions now and then. April and very nice! I have no idea what went on with this lady putting up this report but for sure does'nt sound like the april I know. And I would for sure by another from her.... if I had another 1,000 lol

I am the owner of Ava Lacophur, a sphynx that I purchased from the breeder April Arguin of LilNudists Cattery. This breeder has been wonderful. I contacted her a few weeks after Ava was born and she and I have been in contact ever since. Everything she said she would do, she has. I met with her in person, in her home I will add, on 2 different occasions. I was provided with shot records and inspections from her vet, along with the registration papers, photo album, blanket and toy as promised in the beginning. She sent me pictures all through the first weeks of Ava's life, before I brought her home. She has a continued interest in our cat and still has contact with us to current. I would highly recommend this breeder and absolutely disagree with the report filed by "Ava" in Clearwater, FL. I would certainly purchase another animal from her. She is as reputable as they come and stands by her word.

Hi Ava, lol.. cannot even put your real name huh. Anywho, you are the one ripping us off and are mad about us letting people know about your scams. Put your contract up so we all can see them.

I'm sorry for you and your kitty. I hope you have done all the elisa testing for leukemia, aids and FIP. I did want to note though that vaccinations are almost always done by the breeder, unless they have no experience and then probably shouldn't be breeding :-). Do you know anything about her at all and have any proof you were promised a registered kitten? But, what would make you wonder if it was purebred or not as they are pretty distinctive. Did you intend to breed yourself? Very difficult.
