THIS CONCERNS A VERY SERIOUS ISSUE. If you are new to Spain then Please be very careful if you are considering a motor policy with Linea Directa especially if you do not speak Spanish as this company will use and abuse that fact against you. A very good friend of mine whilst driving in Spain was hit by a drunk driver and spent two years in a neck brace and on a walker.... and still recovering. The drunk driver was prosecuted and found guilty, however, from there on in as my friend was unable to look after the affairs involved, through the injuries received, Linea Directa stated that they would look after his best interests. To be brief it was expedient to use a Spanish Lawyer. This seems to have upset Linea Directa as all doors were promptly closed. The lawyer seems to have been paid off by Linea Directa as doors were closed there also. My friend was suffering severe pain and headaches and frankly, could not deal with the pressure. He ended up paying for the damage to his car and all medical expenses. These could well have been paid to a very unscrupulous lawyer. by Linea Directa to be passed on to my friend but he has received not a penny in rightful compensation. After looking at all issues I believe that the lawyer may have kept this as a payoff as when Linea Directa was questioned on this issue they simply said the case is closed and hung up On their website, Linea Directa claim the following by their CEO, Miguel Ángel Merino, no less...... Today, we continue to offer innovative, personalized solutions designed to meet the needs of all our customers, with a continuous focus on an excellent, efficient service, combined with a human and personal touch. This simply is not true as Linea Directa, based upon this case and from what I see reading the other complaint comments, they are only interested in saving their own money over and upon the better interests of those who trusted to insure with them, Linea Directa and their Aseguradora are fully aware of this case and also the fact that my friend is still undergoing neurological treatment as a result of this accident and yet they still chose to ignore the issue despite the fact that it has been through the courts and well proven in favor of my friend. I am simply looking at the facts, I am not here to judge anyone I will leave that to those looking to Linea Directa for their car insurance. However, that said the manner in which Linea Directa has treated an innocent motorist just out with his daughter for a pleasant Sunday run is absolutely disgusting, not even an offer to pay for the all-important medical bills for which my friend was clearly insured for. Should anyone want further and fuller details they can always contact me for a prompt reply. Just please be very careful if you are new to Spain as Linea Directa currently has a blanket advertising TV program using a well trusted nationally recognized news reader. Incidents of drunken drivers is on the increase in Spain.
