In dec.04 i bought all new bed in a bag sets for all my sons from linens n things in south philadelphia.

I didnt keep the reciept; didn't think I'd be needing it.

But boy do I need it. I had washed the sheets before with no trouble so I decided to have my 13 yr old son do the comforters and bed skirts for a chore. When I came home I could smell something burning. I followed the smell and smoke to the dryer. The comforters had melted.

I called the store and they said they would give me the last sale price without a reciept. Turned out to be exatly half what I paid. I went online and emailed back and forth for two days with stacy from LNT to see if they could help me. I still had the original packaging with the bar codes from that store on it.

They refuse to help me in any way. They made me feel like i was Ripping Them off.

It's ok to buy these bed in a bag sets. Just don't get them dirty without a reciept.

I do agree last names should not be used and you can see i have her last initial in the same sentence i made an error, full name was enterd by mistake. I do feel badly about that, ive asked that it be taken out, that is the only part of post i regret, Cory you made a valaid point, how ever i do feel that this whole thing could have had a happier ending, i never expexted to get the full price back ,i just really felt cheated, cory mabey you can afford to buy 3 bed in a bag sets every 4 months but i cant. as for my buddy peter the last thing i stole was a kiss, lighten up

It's interesting to view other people's viewpoints. "I followed the smell and smoke to the dryer, the comforters had melted". You put just about anything in the dryer long enough and it will either melt or catch fire. Here this women is unhappy with LNT because they won't give her her money back because the comforters melted W/O a receipt. She fails to see the fact that given a short more time, chances are her dryer may have caught fire and possible her home. She was at work, so her son was doing the comforters. No telling where he was or what he was doing. If she came home and followed the smell and smoke, no telling what might have happened if she hadn't come home. She is to be commended for having her son to chores. There should be instructions on the items, in their proper care. You state they wouldn't help you. They would only give you the last sales price, which was half of what you paid. That is the most common practice for all stores. How in the world would they know what you paid for it? Half price for a couple of melted, 4 month old, dirty used comforters. Not bad. The winters over and you got good use out of them. Not as good as full price, but still not bad. One last thing, whenever I see anyone use a person's name in a post especially their last name, it usually means it's personal, not business, Kelly.

I fail to see how it is Linens and Thing's fault that you were so irresponsible as to not keep your receipt. A receipt is your PROOF OF PURCHASE so that when or if you need to return something, the store knows how much you paid for it. Without a receipt, how do they know that you paid for it at all? You could have stolen it and brought it back for a refund! You made a big mistake when you "didn't keep your receipt because you didn't think you'd need it." And that mistake, missy, falls on YOUR shoulders, not the store!
