the job was advertised in the local newspaper as loss prevention officer at $15.00 per hour. call 718-896-3514. after i called, i was told that i should attend the course to qualify as loss prevention officer.

i attended the course and the agency did the background check and found that i was worthy of employment.

i passed the course. for employment they charged $159.00. i was handed the certificate but no job. the $149.00 payment was made with american express credit card and $10.00 was paid cash. i am qualified by the loss prevention officer.

Anytime you have to pay up front for a job your scam antennae should go up.

They filed the following rebuttal to the above Rip-Off Report: Their email: [email protected] Their name: The Fraud Chick Their relationship to the company: Consumer Suggestion Rebuttal: Anytime you have to pay up front for a job your scam antennae should go up. This sounds like a variation of the "Loss Prevention" scam that shows up from time to time in the classifieds section of newspapers. The ads advertise for loss prevention positions available. The ads will promise some sort of start pay, sometimes something like "up to $45K a year." When you call the listed number you're told that you must take an exam. The exam costs "X" and you must have the exam completed with "X" period of time. You send the money; they send you a skimpy manual with the "test." The scam is obvious...you either don't pass the exam or miss the deadline. The fraudsters have your money and you have no job. I would contact Amex and see if it isn't too late to get your money charged back. If it's too late I suggest you take them to small claims court for misrepresentation. The Fraud Chick
