LouTufillaro, Dreambuilders, Louie Tuffilaro Ripoff home improvement nightmare by amatures Holly Springs, cary, Raleigh, Apex North Carolina
I was swindled into purchasing the "home improvement of my dreams" by Lou Tufillaro of Dreambuilders. We settled on a nice plan for improvements that would make us the envy of the neighborhood. This turned out to be a nightmare and there's not a neighbor around who envies the hell we went through with this joker. I put down a large deposit (over 15k) for work and we were asured everything would come together quickly and be more beautiful than we thought.
I am a very understanding person andhave no problem with weather delays, material shipment mixups, etc. We patiently waited for progress to begin. When they finally broke ground, about 10 weeks later, Lou's crewwould show up and just wait around because they didn't know what to do. When Lou finally decided to make an appearance, He was in and out in the blink of an eye and they would get maybe 2-4 hrs of work done each day. Weeks passed and our project crept along. When all was finally "done" there was still a mess in the yard and several unfinished items that we knew werea part of the project. Louie could only tell us "oh you thought that was included?
No, we have to charge x amount to do that, that was neverincluded, read the contract." Sadly, these things were not in the contract even though we were told repeatedly that they would all be taken care of. Common sense told me that people clean up after themselves, butapparently not in thiscase. The end result was that the project had some nice features, some glaring mistakes, and no follow up by the owner, Lou Tufillaro. He just wanted to get his check and run. We were so fed up and wanted him off of our property that we just took care of the mess he left behind ourselves.
This whole process hasleft our family so frustrated. As it turns out, Lou Tufillaro is not even a licensed contractor!
I learned my lesson. Do your homework and check people out. I found out from a business associate that I'm not the first to be had by Dreambuilders. Apparently this is standard procedure for them.
