Lowes Home Improvement rebate ripoff Wilkesboro North Carolina
I purchased new carpet and padding from Lowes and had them install it at the end of April 2004. There was a $ 100 rebate gift card promotion at the time, so I sent all the required information in the mail.
As of today, 7/24/04, I have not received my gift card. I checked the web site and it reports that the card was sent on 6/8/04. I called the customer service number, and Burt was the customer service representative who answered the call.
I told Burt that I had not received my card and he looked it up and said it was sent on 6/8. I told Burt that if I had received my card, I wouldn't be calling him now. Burt then asked if anyone in my household could have received the card. I told him no and if he could look it up to see if it had been used.
He told me he couldn't do that. I asked Burt to void the card and send a new one. He responded that he would do that but it will take another 6 - 8 weeks. We'll see.
I don't know why I have to go through all of this to get a card Lowes promised me. I buy a lot of merchandise from Lowes, but there is a rumor that Home Depot is going to build a store close by. When that happens, I will cut up my Lowes card.
There is a Home Depot 20 miles away, which I will be going to until then.
