Sorry about your experience with Lowes. The problem was not with the manager but rather with the installed sales co-ordinater. He, or she, is the guy that determines what kind pricing scale should be used for installs. The contractor should always get his fee. If Lowes has to charge less to keep the customer happy, thenLowes eats the loss not you. It sounds to me like the ISC at this store is a complete moron! Most good managers make sure thaqt they have excellent ISCs in their stores. Installed sales are big big money makers for Lowes and greatly improve the bottom line which leads to higher bonuses for upper management! As for the flunkies in the stores: I must admit that at the store I worked at we had more than our share of flunkies. However, our Plumbing Pro was a liscenced plumber and made big bucks! Both of our Electric Pros were licensed electricians and were also HVAC certifiedWe had 2 people in our seasonal area that had degrees in horticulture. And,while I may not have a degree, I was the sales Specialist in the plumbing and I do know my plumbimng and also have a strong turf and ornamental background. It just depends on the store. The money is there to hire knowledgeable staff, but the managers are sometimes too bottom-line oriented to look at the big picture to see that BY spending a little more now will earn you even more don the road. Just had to put my two cents in...
