Arnie Whiting is an installer for Lumber Liquidators in Salisbury, North Carolina. He brought along with him a known pedophile in our community, Christopher Neal Russ. I couldn't quite put my finger on him at first. But noticed during this awkward install that he kept staring at my children. He seemed oddly familiar. I checked with the installer for his name, and when he told me Christopher Russ, I was in shock. I remember seeing him on the news. He was on the run from local authorities for indecent liberties with a minor. It turns out, he sexually abused his own daughter. He had many warrants out too. I was appalled! Why would this company knowingly hire a pedophile? And then bring him along for an install to my house?! My children were violated by his weird stares. I highly reccommend those in the Salisbury area to DO NOT DO BUSINESS with Arnie Whiting. He hires pedophiles.

HSS may have strict guidelines for their contractors to abide by when it comes to hiring employees. However, the guideline was clearly not respected by Mr. Whiting. The process only failed because Mr. Whiting chose not to have a background check performed on Christopher Neal Russ. People should not be in business when the almighty dollar is more of a concern than the general safety of the customer.

As a separate and independent company, in this market, The Home Service Store, Inc. (HSS) arranges for installation of products purchased by customers of various retailers including Lumber Liquidators. The HSS program is designed to ensure that all installers sent to the homes of its customers have been properly screened for any serious criminal convictions. HSS performed background checks on Mr. Whiting as the principal of his company, and Mr. Whiting is required by contract with HSS to perform background checks on all his employees, subcontractors and representatives that visit a customer’s home. In this instance, the process failed. In order to minimize the chance that this could occur again, HSS is strengthening the process and regularity with which it audits compliance with the background check requirement.

Since the founding of my company, I have been committed to providing our customers with quality service they deserve. We are a family run business with strong connections to the local communities we serve. Despite our best efforts, a mistake was made. As soon as we discovered our mistake, we took immediate action to eliminate the issue. We are taking every precaution to ensure this will never happen again.
