I've recently encountered very poor service and shoddy practices at a local Cleveland business, and if nothing else, would like to make other consumers aware of the type of service (or lack thereof) that they can expect to receive at the particular business. The business in question is the Lyndhurst Luggage & Shoe Repair, located at 5102 Mayfield Road, Lyndhurst, OH 44124. The owner of the business is James L. Prikryl. The contact information (440) 442-5910 or [email protected].

I was given a designer purse as a present less than a year ago, and wanted to get some stains removed (the stains were minor and didn't really ruin the purse, but I wanted it to look better). The purse was purchased at Nordstrom, and the store recommended Lyndhurst Luggage & Shoe Repair. I left the purse at the business, and was told it would be ready the following week. A few days later, the owner, James, called regarding my order. He said the leather was very soft, and cleaning it may result in additional stains surfacing. James also mentioned that the laminate might come off, but that he'd be able to reseal it. I wanted to know if the end product would be that the purse would look better, and James said that it definitely would. With his assurance, I told him to go ahead and do the work. He said hed give me a call when the purse is ready.

Three weeks went by with no phone call. I finally called myself towards the end of October, and was told the purse would be ready the following day. When I went to pick it up, the purse did not even look like the one I left there. The entire bag was compromised the leather was rough and patchy, the bag shrunk in size, the color was completely gone, there were stains everywhere, etc. Granted, James did warn me about additional stains, but everything else came as a surprise. I did not want to pick up the bag in that condition, and the employee said that James would contact me the next day.

When I spoke with James, he was rude, unapologetic, and did nothing to rectify the situation. He or his employees completely ruined a handbag that cost over $400, and he did not even care to apologize. Apparently, he thought the bag did look better! In fact, James expected me to pay $40 for the so-called repair in order to get the purse back. Needless to say, I let him keep it it is not wearable after the 'repairs'. Upon doing further research, I found that there was already one report filed on BBB about his business, citing 'repair issues'.

The customer was warned about the risks, She said I cant use the bag the way it is do your best... We had an agrement and I spent Two Hours working on this bag, as well as 25 to 30 Min. on the phone given her detaile warinings. Of course I expect to be paid for my services. The bag looks better, it has faded a bit , The customer was warned this may happen in our cleaning process. I also did tell her I was sorry she thought I ruined her bag. The only truth is that I did have the bag longer than she was told.. I am very good at what I do, but I am not a magician.. Again I am sorry your bag come back looking brand new.

Customer Was Warned In Advance During 30 Min Conversation

This is not the real story. The purse was brought in by the boyfriend, and he was warned of the risks involved. At this time we pointed out spots of concern. One being an ink spot. It Is questionable whether the Marc Jacobs bag is real. The owner cant even remember where she bought the bag. She stated the bag was bought at Next, then at Saks now at Nordstrom. Before we cleaned the purse I had a 30 min. conversation with the owner of the bag. The final statement from the customer was "I cant use the bag the way it is, do your best!" I Have been in this business for 25 years and I do not like to buy nor can I afford 1000,00 dollar purses I wont use. I also do work for Saks Fith Ave, Nordstrom, BCBG, Aldo, Brightton, and Dillards. ASK ANY ONE OF THEM ABOUT MY WORK. Jim Prikryl

Information Not True!!

I know for a fact that this story is totally fabricated, and untrue. This girl orginally told Jim the bag was purchased at a differant store...now changes her story, and says it was purchased at Nordstroms. ? Jim advised her prior to attempting to fix this already "ruined" bag...it was at her risk, and she gave him the permission to proceed, and fix it the best that he could. She was looking for him to replace the bag with a brand new one..... and was looking for a FREE RIDE!!! Jim fixes ALL of Sak's and Nordstrom's bags...and has an outstanding reputation in the community...I think that speaks for itself!!!
