Macy's Amex has little to do with American Express beyond a marketing scheme to charge higher rates and give none of the consumer protection normally afforded by non-branded Amex card holders.  As seen in a previous post, I had used a Macy's Amex to buy a service in which the service accidentally charged more than 3 times the original price.  Nonetheless, in the end of an 8 month ordeal, I filed arbitration under the Amex arbitration clause to recover costs since Amex or Macy's would not protect me from fraudulent charges.  After a month i nthe hands an arbitration adminstrator for AAA services, Macy's had a lawyer, Raven Akram, send a Macy's card agreement from somewhere that had no signature from me, or anything to do with Amex.  I found thier agrement online macys.com/service/credit/agreements/amex.jsp which was not the one this lawyer presented to AAA.  Amex is complicit in this scheme as seen here.amexoffers.com/macys  The AAA agreed with the attorney that I had no right to any claims since Amex is really not involved beyond marketing and that Amex can't be hel accountable, nor Macy's!!!  The Macy's Amex is backed by Department Stores National Bank in South Dakota with the holding Company being Citigroup!  Amex is only involved to collect processing fees.  Don't get one of these cards and don't trust Macy's marketing.  Personally, I will never shop there again based upon these types of deceptive marketing practices.  If you do have or get an AMex, make sure it is not a branded card- you have no rptoection.
