In December 2017 we moved into a location were we have NO cell signal, a landline phone was going to cost us $35 a month. So we went with magicjack VOIP service. Within the first month we went through 2 ac adapters I called customer service so many times I lost count they would never send a new Magicjack, they kept blaming our internet which has been fine. They only offer real customer service to customers that pay a monthly fee which is rediculous!

The yearly fee is $39.00 but they dont tell you that a few months after you sign up you will get a bill in the mail for E911 services and taxes. I bought a new magicjack with 3 months free service for $19.99 I should have never re newed the service because its terrible. The call quality is lousy when someone calls or you call them the phone cuts out the other person can never hear you and you can hardly hear them half of the time. my renewal is in march 2019 I dont think we are renewing our service we are going to find another more reliable VOIP service.

I hope that what I write might help others to resolve any issues with their magicjack service.

1.) If you are using satellite for your internet service provider, forget about it.  Magicjack doesn't fail, your ability to investigate the cause of the failure is the problem.

2.) If you have internet service, check the speed test (there's a ton of them online, simply google "check my internet speed").  If you have a less-than-expected rate, you might have other issues with your connection that need to be resolved first.

3.) If you are using the magicapp, stop, turn off the service for a minute by going to the magicjack dashboard, re-check your connection with magicjack.

4.) If you simply must have magicapp due to the magicjack dongle having broke, pull the battery out of your phone and try another cell phone that doesn't have service (*you DO want a phone that doesn't have service as the apps may conflict...this is not necessarily a magicjack issue at all). After connecting to your router and activating the magicapp, did this resolve your problem?  Shoot the other phone (or restore it back to factory condition and try again...limit your apps to only magicjack for a minute to test).

5.) In our complaints about MagicJack, has any of us created a better service for the public?  NO?  Then save your $35/year and find a more expensive service (where you can leave that service bad reviews also....only with more loss out of your pocketbook)...enjoy

I've been using magicjack for about a decade, maybe longer.  I remember when they truly were an innovative item but alas the service was sketchy at times (this is where you weigh the options...35 / year or hundreds and hundreds per year .... just to talk and text).

I give magicjack 5 stars for being great NON-capitalists!
