I received the majicjack under an incorrect name and that was attached to my credit card account. Iwas later billed for services I had not yet received. The phone service is awful. So much static I can not hear nor can I be heard. I am not able to get any reconciliation for any of this. I do not like my account having an erroneous name connected with My credit card either. I tried to return the devices but was refused in obtaining a RMA number. I have disputed the charges on My credit card.

Have been using the MagicJack since January, 2009, and very happy with its operation - it has saved us more than its cost EACH MONTH in long distance charges since no reasonable "single fee" long distance plan is available through our local Tel/Cable company. Problems seem to be divided into several categories: 1. The technical problems can be attributed to quality of broadband connection or connecting hardware. While you may use your computer during a call, use of the internet connection to download script-intensive pages or streaming will give unsatisfactory experiences to both uses if your connection speed is limited. Quality only seems effected when I forget & access internet while I'm on the phone - reverb and "popping" - otherwise better than cellphone, almost as good as landline. 2. This should NOT be your only means of communication. It is EXCELLENT in saving long distance charges, but can be problematic in making local and 911 calls. We have kept our local phone (& number) for incoming calls, 911, and calling locally at a cost of $20/month. We also have cellphones (minimal prepaid) for emergency use and travel. Naturally, if your electricity is cut off or knocked out by emergency, your computer nor your MJ phone will work. 3. The company acted as they had promised - charge to credit card was 30 days after shipping & shipping was immediate with tracking (NOT necessary to pay the "rush" shipping charge). As always with online purchases, we used a "one-time use" credit card number to eliminate any future unauthorized charges. 4. Use with remote handset(s) and charging stations are necessary to have outgoing call service away from the computer - these have seemed to work well at our home. Like the email with voicemail received via the MJ number. We do not use locally since the # available did NOT include our local exchange and at this point our local number can not be transferred. Don't hesitate to use for long-distance. It works, and works well! Shenvaltech

I have to admit I don't know what a majik jack is and i sure as hell don't want one now after reading about THIS blatant RIP-OFF. WHEN I WAS A KID, WHEN YOU JACKED SOMEBODY, IT MEANS THAT YOU RIPPED THEM OFF BEFORE I SEND ANY OF THESE INTERNET PEOPLE ANY MONEY, I WANT A MORTAR AND BRICKS ADDRESS WHERE I CAN SEND A US POSTAL SERVICE MONEY ORDER. THAT WAY I CAN COMPLAIN TO THE POST OFFICE WHICH IS STILL FEDERAL WHICH CAN SHUT THEM DOWN AND PUT THE OPERATORS OF THEIR LITTLE SCAM IN A FEDERAL PRISON (NO PAROLE). I ALSO TEND TO CALL NUMBERS BEFORE I BUY ANYTHING TO SEE IF THEY ARE OPERABLE. INTERNET ONLY COMMUNICATION SITES MEAN THAT A NIGERIAN SCAMSTER OR EVEN AN ELQUIDAH TERRORIST IN A CAVE WITH A LAPTOP AND A SATELLITE LINK-UP COULD BE GETTING YOUR MONEY AND LAUGHING AT HOW STUPID YOU ARE FOR SENDING IT. NOW NOBODY WILL KNOW WHAT A MAJIKJACK IS BECAUSE MAYBE THEY DON"T EVEN EXIST AT ALL. MAYBE THEY ARE JUST AN INTERNET SCAM. ANOTHER REASON I ONLY BUY WITH LOCAL MERCHANTS...WITH CASH. KEEP YOUR PERSONAL FINANCIAL BUSINESS ( CREDIT CARD NUMBERS, BANK ACCOUNT NUMBERS, ETC.0 OFF OF THE DAMNED INTERNET. ANY HACKER CAN GET IT AND IF YOU ARE NOT SURE WHO IS AT THE OTHER END, YOU DONT NEED TO BE SENDING THEM MONEY THAT THE FBI OR THE CIA CAN ASK YOU ABOUT OR TRY TO HOLD YOU RESPONSIBLE FOR LATER! KEEP ALL OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION OFF OF THE INTERNET TOO. ALL SOMEBODY NEEDS TO TAKE YOUR IDENTITY IS YOUR FULL NAME AND DATE OF BIRTH AND YOUR CURRENT PHYSICAL ADDRESS. THUS ENDETH A VERY EXPENSIVE LESSON. BUT SINCE YOU LIVE IN TEXAS, CONTACT THE STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE FRAUD DIVISION HERE IN AUSTIN,TEXAS. IT IS ON HIS WEB PAGE. GOOD LUCK.
