In December, I had a timing belt replaced w/ a water pump.

when I recieved my car back a week later I noticed that they had not told me about the water pump not being put in because -uhm they forgot.

Now, in April I have taken it back and had the water pump replaced.

During the six days that it was there, a ladder dropped on to the hood of my car, damaging the paint and body, also busting my windshield.

When it was finally time to pick up my car, wanting to charge me for another timing belt, because the other one that they replaced in Dec. had a default which i did not pay for but having to pay for expensive labor that should of been taken care of in Dec. also.

I cranked it, and something was wrong. Bad idoling, rpms miss firing, also speedometer was going crazy.

So unfortunatley, I had to leave it there. The next day they called and said my car was ready, all that was needed was a new hose, so they said.

My car was still having the same problem. After I had gone getting estimates for the damage and brought them to Bill the manager at PepBoys, He rolled his eyes and said " I am tired of seeing you here, and said that he would take care of it later.

I was very upset at him and told him that I was tired of being here. I became good friends during all this with the mechanic that was going to figureout what was wrong w/ my car at this time.

The worst thing about it the reason for my water pump was so that my car would stop over heating, that wasn't fixed either. The mechanic that i became good friends with said that last time when i had my timing belt put in, that Bill was the one who forgot to write it up on the report. and said dont worry about putting the water pump in, since they were putting the car back together already.

The mechanic brought me home, and told me that they have lost alot of business because of him, they avoid him at work, and that he is a very bad manager.

Iam still in the process of having my car fixed. It will be a week today that they have had my car. All I wanted was a new water pump to stop the over heating in my car.

Instead I got damage to my car, something else is wrong with it now, and still over heating. Once my car is fixed, if ever, I will never go there again for anything at all, thanks to Bill the manager at Pep Boys.

im not a mechanic by trade but was raised around car repair since my dad is a mechanic so i know your car could not possibly run for 4 months with no water pump you would be lucky if it lasted 4 minutes so if you think it lasted until april with no water pump sorry babe your sadly mistaken.you gotta see it from the mechanics point of view they deal with alot of s**t from people all day long i know i used to work in my dads shop and you wouldnt believe the crap these guys dealt with day in and day out.i admit some techs can be hard to deal with but think of the s**t they deal with.all they want to do is do the best they can on your car whether you believe it or not and alot of times there bosses put unneeded pressure on them to finish a job quickly so sometimes they have no choice but to finish as fast as they can and at times when your in a hurry things get overlooked you cant tell me you havent done it yourself.its human nature people make mistakes especially when hurried ive done it myself so dont act like it cant be done.now all of the pep boys ive ever seen never have ladders in them so what happened most likely and ive seen this in a few shady shops when they get an unruly repeat customer is they will break something on your car as revenge for costing them because alot of mechanics are on whats called flat rate pay and if a job takes 2 hours to do and if they do it in three they only get paid for 2 hours of work and if the job isnt done right or the car comes back for the same repair guess what that tech does it again for free so by that happening your taking money out of that mechanics bank account and your taking food of his table, clothes off his back and money away from his house and his wife and kids so think about that while your bad mouthing them.they have a job to do like the rest of us and sometimes people make mistakes were not perfect people.that tech talks about most of them avoid there boss at work tell me who the hell doesnt avoid there boss at work i stay the hell away from mine all the time its an employees nature.so instead of bad mouthing a company for one bad expierience think of the fact that the mechanics work just like you and me.the next time he takes ya home ask him about his pay and if he likes dealing with terrible customers all day long.
