Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
In 1998 I purchased a timeshare in Palm Desert, Ca. At the time of the sale I asked if we were able to sell this timeshare without any conditions, "absolutely", said the sales person.

Now things have apparently changed as they informed me that if I sold the time share outside of their "resale office" the new owner would not be part of the rewards program. I then asked what the commission was if I opted to go thru there office, 40% i was told, you heard it right and it would take up to 18 months.

They have created a monopoly and a guaranteed profit, probably as much if they sold a new timeshare not to mention if I had sold it they would not have to shell out reward points. They get you virtually coming and going.

This would be equivalent to selling a condo and the people who bought it would not be able to use the pool if you hadn't sold it thru their sales dept at a 40% commission.

I feel violated

Marriott timeshare is a ripoff

Marriott sales people are highly trained in the art of convincing families that they "need" timeshare. They are taught techniques to insure that they close every door of a potential objection for purchase during the sales process. They set up the client so that at the end of the presentation, to say no to the purchase of a timeshare will make them look foolish. Sales people, will tell potential buyers whatever they need to, be it true or not to make the sale. A rather startling fact is that many sales people are users of illegal drugs. A potential buyer may have a salesperson who is high on alcohol, marijuana or cocaine. This usage is known to management and in some cases the managers are abusers as well. So long as a sales person is selling, Marriott chooses to bury their head in the sand. The irony of the situation is that drug testing is required for the entry level jobs paying $6.00 to $7.00 per hour but not for salespeople who in some cases are earning upwards of $200,000 plus!. Sales people have a tendency to leave out all the negatives about timeshare, i.e. resale value, costs of resale, exchange potential and the actual value. A tremendous amount of training is required for sales people to be accomplished in the art of smoke and mirrors. Training is conducted weekly to keep their skills sharp. What the client does not know is that sales people "high five" each other when they get you to buy. If you do not purchase they refer to you as a "mooch". It is a very dark and decadent world where potential buyers are not seen as people but as a potential dollare sign. It is not the "Vacations of Lifetime Memories" that is touted by Mr. Marriott on his video. He is a hypocrtie, hiding behind his "LDS" Mormon religion. He condones bigotry, sexual harassment, age discrimination and other illegal acts. Mr. Marriott has been advised as to all the the illegal activities that occur within the organization. If one raises a flag on wrongdoing they are banished from the Marriott Kingdom. Mr. Marriott thumbs his nose at the Government Agencies responsibly for upholding the law and for some reason feels that he and his organization are above the law. His recent attempt to estop the Sodexo (former arm of Marriott) from filing a class action lawsuit for race discrimination, utilizing his connections with President Bush went to the Supreme Court. Fortunately, they opted not to hear Mr. Marriott's case. He is so cheap that he intentionally discriminates against blacks and then wants the case dismissed! Presently, he is facing many more cases in regards to unlawful terminations, age and sex discriminations that are bound to reveal a very corrupt and sordid Marriott Corporation. The number of complaints about Marriott timeshares is staggering, in spite of what Marriott publishes. If an outside individual spent one day listening to the lies and hearing what is said about them, they would be appalled. Sales people for the most part do not care about the families who come to tour their properties, they care about their commission that will allow them to make payments on their porches, boats, huge homes, luxury vacations and to feed their drug habits.
