We have all been actual tenants of Marty Powers on South Corona St. (and other places) where he owns 3 or 4 homes in a row and who also does business as black widow LLC, (The name fits him perfectly.)
He is a terrible landlord and when you try and move out; he sends exorbitant fees for normal wear and tear and bogus repairs that are his responsibility, and is not afraid to file small claims court lawsuits in a conscience effort to extort more funds out of you.
We think he is holding on by a shoestring and really doesn't have any money to keep the houses up, so he tries to bilk his tenants. He comes on very charming and then after a short while, turns on you. We haven't found one tenant he hasn't filed suit against when they decided to leave one of his rentals.
If nothing else, do yourself a favor and check him out with the neighbors. He has burned all bridges with all of them.
Stay clear of this guy.
He is psychotic.

His whole family are narcissists inhereted from their father William Powers who even sold his mother-in-law out for money because he wasn't included in her will. Family means nothing to any of these people. They are just another opportunity.
Powers can keep his "charming" act up for about 2 years before his real narcissistic agenda comes through. Like his renters and neighbors? have indicated. Don't believe me, I dated him and found out the hard way. Never turn your back when you deal with this guy.
