I was just like you when we moved into out new house, about 4 years ago,we bought strictly Maytag due to a good experience 10 years ago with a dishwasher and their "good name". The problem is we bought the best maytag had Neptune washer/dryer ($1600), dishwasher ($450), and the best of all the side by side frig ($1500). The dryer is the only thing that has not been serviced. The washer has been serviced twice (it is still working). The dishwasher control board was replaced. (It is still working) The frig has been serviced twice for continually freezing items in the frig (veggies, lunch meat, and eggs). Then the ice dispensor/water dispensor had a total breakdown and is totally dead. The entire unit is done, semi-melted. Maytag wanted $100 labor plus parts which could run up to $200 more to fix it! Then the wanted to sell me product insurance to cover future breakdowns. (Wait, I have to buy insurance to protect myself from their inferior products?)Now I am finding out that this unit was under recall but mine didn't break in time so they were not going to help me. From what I understand recalls on some items do expire. When I continued to ask Maytag for help the sent me form emails saying "We always try to keep our customers satisfied" They blew me off!!! I can only add to your comment, they not only introduce sub-standard products, but they have sub-standard service. All beware!!

Three years ago, I purchased a Maytag washer and dryer from Sears and have never had one problem with either one. They have been the best appliances I've ever owned. I will continue to buy Maytag products in the future.
