I bought a used low mileage dodge truck at this dealership in March of 2015. The sales associate was nice and focused on customer satisfaction, but the used car sales manager, Ed (heavy set gentleman with glasses and a goatee) was a different story. I drove the truck off the lot with a missing driver's side rear view mirror, which was on order and scheduled to be at the dealership the same week. When it arrived, I brought the truck back to get it installed, and during installation, it was dropped and broken by the installing technician. No big deal... accidents happen, the dealership put another one on order, albeit at no rush. Then, upon arriving home, my exhaust system, downstream of the catalytic converter fell off the car. Got a tow truck out to the house to bring the truck to the dealer next morning. The towing was at my expense, dealer didn't offer to pay. When we got it there, the dealership personnel came out to inspect and started mumbling about how I probably hit something. When confronted about this, the sales manager said, well these things happen at 45,000 miles. Really? I guess everyone's exhaust system falls off their vehicles at that threshold and I've just been lucky with all the cars I've owned to date. Despite this, they did the right thing and replaced the system the same day. They test drove it and returned it, stating the suspension is squeaky but the car is in tip top shape mechanically.

Come to find out after taking it to a local repair shop, the truck has the following issues: heavily corroded sway bar and bushings which need replacement ($1200) and a leak in the radiator at a point that would require radiator replacement in the near future. I’m not naive. It’s a used car, these things can happen. However, given the series of events I thought to go back to the dealership and see if I could work a trade out, realizing I was going to take a loss. I called daily to talk to Ed, the used car sales manager, about the whole situation. Amazingly, every time I called (which was at different times of the day), he was in a meeting. I left messages, and he never called back. So, I decided to go in one weekend. I sat down to talk to him and he half paid attention to what I was saying but told me we could try to work something out. However, he harpooned me on trade in value and penalized me for the replaced exhaust. I expressed that I didn’t think I should be punished for something that should have been in decent condition at the time of purchase and furthermore I questioned that the vehicle could have even passed inspection. At that point, he started yelling at me for calling him a liar and told me to “get the F*&#@! out of the dealership”. Customer service for you. All I wanted was to see the emissions inspection report and work out another vehicle sale with him. This sales manager is a piece of work.

An underlying story to all this is when I purchased my vehicle, I traded in a honda accord. They gave me trade in value for it, but turned around and marked it up 3.5 times the trade in!

In hindsight, I realize I made a hasty decision and didn’t do my due diligence in fully inspecting the vehicle upon purchase. Lesson learned on my part. I bought a vehicle in poor condition, but someone sold me a vehicle in poor condition and charged me like it was in very good condition. I got taken to town financially and got treated like garbage when I was confronting them and trying to work out a deal that still would have gotten them another car sale.

Last item of note: Still don't have my rear view mirror 4 weeks later...
