I had $39,700 deposited in an interest earning account with Merill Lynch Beverly Hills for a full year.
They charged an annual maintainance fee of $65 for the account and paid a total of 90 cent interest for the year. This is probably the worst abuse of investor money that I could ever imagine.
They know what they are doing and I would categorize this an outright theft of investor funds. This is something like one fourtythousandeth of a percent. Beware if you have an account there and trust your broker to monitor your account.
I wonder if their brokers get extra points for cheating customers to enrich the company"s funds.
